(3/3) “I’m so grateful to have opportunities again,” Kristine said, “I have my own things, I have people to help me, and I’m starting to meet people that I feel like I can laugh with again.” Kristine is spending her evenings in the women’s shelter and walking across the street to the day center for meals and services. Her current goal is to move into group housing upstairs — all at the Dorothy Day Campus “I can’t wait to have my own room again, to be able to cook in my own kitchen, and grow some houseplants,” explained Kristine. “I’m 58 years old now, but I’m still going to persevere.” Full story: https://bit.ly/3xKSwek

Urgent Help Needed⭐ Can you spare $6 to provide lunch for a neighbour? ⭐ It's not a lot, but for someone it really is. 💚 Who is Mission Possible? Mission Possible transforms lives through meaningful work. They walk alongside people facing barriers to employment by providing supportive, transitional work experience and community for those who are ready to enter the workforce. 💚 Why lunches? Mission Possible started providing lunches in 2020 to associates on shift to address some of the food security challenges they were facing. The lunches provided some stability for their associates while other food services had to shut down for safety purposes. As things have opened back up, funding has diminished and is now no longer offered. However, over the last four years, Mission Possible has received a lot of positive feedback from associates who rely on these lunches to get through the day. In addition, the Employment Readiness Program and the associate team has only continued to expand as Mission Possible adapts to meet the demand in the community for transitional employment. Mission Possible need your support to keep providing these lunches, and every dollar counts! #PayItForward #GivingBack #FoodSecurity #FoodInsecurity #MissionPossible #Poverty #PovertyReduction #Inclusion #Equity Matthew Smedley, Tara Chang-Swanson, Jamie Millar-Dixon Rianna Ganief Saffina Jinnah Tanya Morrison (she/her/hers) William Azaroff Marco Pasqua Elisabeth Cooke Dignii Technologies Inc Mary Gerges B.A., M.P.P. How about a walk through of our NEW premises for my biz “About the Town”? Lots of people have been asking what About the Town Central is (or ATT Central, we like to call it 🙂). In short, it’s a community space where we have our ATT Creative Studio, our ATT Coffee Bar, and our ATT HQ all under one roof! Here’s a snippet of what we will be doing here: • Creating About the Town Magazine • Various Arts + Crafts Sessions (a mix of Paid + Free activities) • Pottery Painting Sessions • Free + Heavily Funded Workshops + Courses around Mental and Physcial Wellbeing. • Community Cupboard Scheme (Access to free emergency food and hygiene items) • Warm Space (Access to free food + drinks on selected days of the week) • Coffee Bar • Fundraising activities And lots more! Oh and did we mention that ALL the books you see scattered around on the shelves are FREE to take home and read? Our service users can browse hundreds of titles, grab a coffee from just £1, relax and read, or take their book of choice home! We’ve still got loads to do in this space, but considering just 10 days or so ago we never even had a front door, I think we’re doing pretty well 😂 What do you think? #aboutthetowncentral #aboutthetown #skelmersdale #westlancs #westlancashire #communityhub #creativestudio

THIRD PLACES: BEST PRACTICES 1. Combine multiple uses, services, and businesses under one roof 2. Create flexible spaces with various types of seating options 3. Include low-cost (or no-cost) options to boost traffic 4. Incorporate food and/or beverages 5. Keep long hours, if possible 6. Proactively welcome a great variety of visitors 7. Host regular activities, including not-for-profit arts and culture 8. Design and program for social interaction 9. Include amenities to support lingering (games, books, arts, etc.) 10. Embrace quirks and uniqueness Thank you to Rik Adamski, who gathered these ideas based on his many years of experience in this space. Every #neighborhood needs a good third place that brings people together. A good neighborhood will have many - including #restaurants, #parks, houses of worship, #library branch, civic association, barber shop, school parking lot, even a home that keeps its doors open all the time. The best places likely serve multiple purposes (as explained above). What is your favorite third place in your neighborhood? What is the most innovate third place you have seen? Please share stories. I traveled to Tucson AZ to help #lead a 2 day 16-hour training for the Amph Panteras Tenants Empowerment Program. My portion included interactive activities, group discussions and specific techniques custom developed to: learn conflict resolution skills through conscious clear communication, daily practical self care routines, easy effective mindshifts to reduce stress and a step by step process to write their inspiring housing experience story. I will be able to use the powerful experiences of these courageous people as personal motivation as a member of Scottsdale Leadership class 38 where our projects are focused on #homelessness and housing incecurities. #leadershipskills #compassion #evictions #resilience #neighborshelpingneighbors #landlordtenant More information about this group: in an excerpt of article by: Tina Giuliano Oct 18, 2023 TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — For those in the Amphi neighborhood, it's more than just a collection of houses and businesses. It's a special community of friends and family. Hassan Clement has lived in the area for about four years. He joined the neighborhood association, advocating for change to improve the area for everyone. When his apartment needed repairs, he said the landlord was silent and didn't respond to any of his inquiries. "Our apartments here, 17 people needed repairs from anything from non-operating refrigerators and AC units to toilets and sinks," he said. "And we were not getting a response from the people that own the property. We had to find a way to work and get the fit and habitable houses that we pay rent for." So he and other neighbors partnered with Ward 3 and other local groups like Old Pueblo Community Services to create the Amphi Panteras Tenant Empowerment Program. About 10 people will be trained and canvas the neighborhood educating people on their rights as tenants.

When I'm on calls, I often get asked, "Where is Mason, OH?" I usually say it's a northern suburb of Cincinnati, as many of my contacts are from other states—or even countries. But Mason, OH, is so much more than that. In fact, Fortune Magazine recently ranked Mason #5 on their 2024 list of "Best Places to Live for Families." Fortune conducted a comprehensive evaluation of over 2,000 locations across the U.S., analyzing nearly 200 data categories within five key themes: education, resources for aging adults, general wellness, financial health, and livability. Their goal was to identify places that offer essential services and a strong sense of community—places that are both affordable and diverse. Mason stood out for its impressive growth, affordability, and exceptional quality of life. Residents enjoy top-rated schools, abundant career opportunities, and a wealth of recreational amenities. Mason's thriving business environment and family-friendly attractions, including theme parks and extensive community facilities, make it an ideal place to live and work. Did You Know? Major international businesses have significant operations in Mason, OH, including: - Procter & Gamble Mason Business Center - Cintas Corporation (Headquarters) - GE Aviation - Worldpay (Headquarters) - Festo Corporation (NA Headquarters) - Kao USA, Inc - Honeywell Intelligrated - Assurex Health - Atos Attractions: - Kings Island Amusement Park - Great Wolf Lodge - Lindner Family Tennis Center (home to the Cincinnati Open, where the world's top tennis athletes compete annually) It's remarkable to think that just 15 years ago, much of Mason was farmland and open fields. Today, it’s a vibrant, thriving community. Over the past decade, Mason has seen substantial growth in both population and economic development. With a population increase of around 10-15%, driven by a strong business environment, excellent schools, and a high quality of life, Mason continues to attract new residents and businesses alike. This sustained growth reflects Mason's ongoing appeal as a vibrant, family-friendly community with a robust economy and a high standard of living. #MasonOH #Cincinnati #BestPlacesToLive #EconomicGrowth #Community #BusinessDevelopment #FamilyFriendly #TopRatedSchools #Livability

As families grow, so do their dreams... and their homes. The quest for a safe, nurturing neighborhood becomes not just a desire but a necessity. 🏘️ In Carlsbad, the search for the 'perfect' family-friendly zone is more than just about upsizing homes. It's about creating environments where safety meets playfulness, where communities prosper, and where kids can laugh freely in their backyards. After guiding numerous families through this pivotal journey, I've pinpointed gems in Carlsbad for our growing tribes: 1️⃣ Community Engagement: Areas with active neighborhood watches and community events. 2️⃣ Quality Schools: Neighborhoods feeding into top-tier educational institutions for our little learners. 3️⃣ Green Spaces: Local parks and recreation areas for weekend soccer games and family picnics. 4️⃣ Quiet Streets: Cul-de-sacs and low-traffic roads, where the only rush hour is kids racing on their bikes. 5️⃣ Proximity to Essentials: Easy access to healthcare, grocery stores, and family services. This is about more than just moves; it's about planting roots in a setting that feels like the small towns of yesteryear, yet is vibrant with today's modern amenities. 🌳 I take pride in not just listing and marketing homes but in helping families write the next exciting chapter of their lives. Let’s dialogue. What do YOU think makes a neighborhood truly family-friendly? #FamilyFirst #CarlsbadHomes #RealEstate #Safety #Community

🏙️ Exciting times for Cincinnati! Attended an insightful panel discussion by SMPS Cincinnati focused on revitalizing our downtown. Key takeaways: ▪ Transforming office spaces into apartments is a game-changer. It not only adds life to the city but also supports local businesses. ▪ Historical tax credits are vital in preserving our heritage buildings, making urban renewal projects more feasible. ▪ The Children's Theater of Cincinnati highlighted the role of 'play' in urban spaces. Proud to have the oldest children's theater in the nation right here! ▪ Amenities aren't just extras anymore; they're essential for creating vibrant communities where people can work, live, and play. ▪ Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of community growth. ▪ Attracting and retaining talent is key. Our connection with local universities, community engagement, and the unique, welcoming culture of Cincinnati make it a place people love to call home. 🌟 What stands out about Cincinnati is its scale – big enough to offer diversity and opportunity, yet small enough to maintain a strong sense of community. ✨ Let's keep the momentum going. Engaging with communities early in development projects is crucial. We're not just building spaces; we're building relationships. #CincinnatiRevitalization #CommunityDevelopment #UrbanRenewal #HistoricalPreservation #DiversityInclusion
