Over the last few months, the focus of sustainability-related disclosures has been on interoperability. What does this mean for the future of nature disclosures? On 4 June, Tony Goldner will join CDP's CEO, Sherry Madera, for CDP’s Global Disclosure Dialogue. We have been working closely with CDP to help them draw on and further align their corporate questionnaire and reporting guidance with the TNFD recommendations and guidance published in September 2023. This builds on other recent announcements by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), CDP, EFRAG's #ESRS and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) to strengthen collaboration showing positive signs of more standardised approaches being developed to tackle climate change and nature. It's #CDP time! Great news for the 75,000+ companies requested to disclose: CDP's 2024 questionnaire is aligned with IFRS S2, the ISSB's climate standard, as the foundational baseline for CDP's climate disclosure. CDP has also progressed critical alignment with other key standards such as the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (#TNFD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (#ESRS), required by the #CSRD, harmonizing them in one questionnaire and dataset. A timely reminder from Minister Eamon Ryan for the Irish business community of the central importance of ESG in maintaining a sustainable business. The Business Post reports his views that; "Any company that is of any merit or scale or capability is thinking five, 10, 15 years ahead. If you're thinking five, 10, 15 years ahead, you're not going to give up on ESG. [...] I think any company that thinks we can ignore some of these issues now probably won't be there in 15 years’ time." "So I think it still has a real, central part. You can see it - some of the accounting rules have been changed in a fundamental way, it's not just the annual publication with the glittery photo. It is at the core of international accounting standards now. And I don't see that reversing." #esg #csrd #irishbusiness

The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) announced a 30% increase in adopters of their corporate reporting recommendations since January at London Climate Action Week last week. Additionally, new sector-specific guidance and disclosure metrics were released to aid companies and financial institutions in reporting. With 96 new organizations, the total number of committed companies is now 416, spanning over 50 jurisdictions and representing over US$6 trillion in market capitalization. A notable 114 financial institutions, representing US$15.9 trillion in assets, have adopted the recommendations, including 25% of the world's systemically important banks. "We are delighted that organisations globally are also using TNFD to prepare for the forthcoming expansion of the global sustainability reporting baseline now that the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) has commenced its important work on nature building on the recommendations of the Taskforce," said David Craig, Co-Chair of the TNFD.
