🌟 Discover first hand what the Job Start scheme holds with insights from our JP Corry team members, Hannah and Marcus! Dive into the video below for an inside look and uncover the opportunities awaiting you. #JPCorry #JobStart #OpportunityAwaits #CareerGrowth
It was great to see over 550 young people visit 2 Royal Avenue yesterday for our JobStart Meet the Employer event, where they had the chance to meet over 30 employers with JobStart opportunities in a wide range of roles. Thanks to a partnership between ourselves and Department for Communities, the free event, attended by our Lord Mayor and the Minister for Communities Gordon Lyons, also provided useful information on our Employment Academies, self-employment, the Gateway to Choices (G2C) service and the Condition Management Programme. It was all about helping young people in Belfast who are at risk of long-term unemployment or struggling to get a job - a key priority in our Belfast Agenda – and part of our employability and skills programme, #TakeTheNextStep. The diverse roles on offer spanned administration, childcare, customer service, distribution, health and social care, hospitality, logistics, marketing, sports coaching, transport, videography, youth work and warehousing. Watch this short video with Hannah Quirey, HR Advisor, JP Corry and Marcus Harvey, a JobStart graduate employed by JP Corry, to see what they thought. First Assistant Secretary Workforce Australia for Business Division at Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR)
Not sure how to convert your ambition for diversity into reality? Our amazing network of Employment Facilitators can help.
Local Jobs Program Employment Facilitators are in communities across Australia. They can support businesses to create inclusive workplaces and help local people gain the skills they need to find a job. In Perth South, Employment Facilitator Rosie Hegarty saw an opportunity to help return-to-work parents gain work in early childhood education. Rosie engaged a training provider to deliver free, part time training during school hours, enabling parents to take part. Local employers got involved and offered part time traineeships to participants. This includes Siti who is now working with a local employer and is gaining valuable skills and experience while balancing her care responsibilities. To learn more about how the Local Jobs Program can help your business to find the right staff, please reach out to your local Employment Facilitator at https://lnkd.in/g4fKCXd5

Looking for work, preparing a resume, interviewing, and landing a job is a learned skill – everyone starts somewhere. For young adults without confidence or family support, or simply never having had a job before, the challenge is ever greater. This year, our 18th Summer effort, the Northern Virginia Educating Youth Through Employment (EYE) Program reached over 180 young adults and placed them into jobs where they earned some money and gained new confidence in their work attitudes. All of our Northern Virginia EYE Young Adults was provided a LinkedIn Learning License to explore new skills and to continue building their education efforts for the year ahead. Our Northern Virginia Program emphasizes gaining new skills through direct work experience and adding value to an employer’s organization. In my luncheon address to the EYE graduates, I quoted Dr. Martin Luther King by noting “If a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven played music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well.” There is so much need for these types of work experience programs for young adults, both in Northern Virginia, all of Virginia and and across the United States. Let’s make this effort a national priority.
🎉 EYE Recognition Ceremony 🎉 The Fairfax County Government Educating Youth through Employment (EYE) Summer Program, sponsored by the Department of Family Services, provides youth ages 16-24 with paid summer work to build workplace skills, explore areas of interest, and prepare for future opportunities. Congratulations on a great summer internship and best of luck in your career endeavors! (With Michael A. Becketts, PhD, MSW, MSHA, MEd, Jennifer Van Buren, MPhil, MSA, CWDP, and David Hunn) More Info ➡ https://lnkd.in/eAnHir2a ✅ Lifelong Education and Learning ✅ Economic Opportunity #fairfaxcounty #internship #interns #careers #employment #futureleaders #Channel16TVhttps

The Jobs Guy | On a mission to help Florida’s leaders and businessowners streamline the workforce system to build strong communities. Posts & articles about the process.
I read the 298 pages of the Federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act so you don't have to... Here's what you need to know 👇 The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act or (WIOA) is the primary funding driver for a majority of the workforce development programs in the state. It has 5 main buckets which encompass almost all of the workforce development programs and services offered. Those buckets are: 1. Workforce Development Activities 2. Adult Education And Family Literacy 3. Wagner-Peyser Services 4. Vocational Rehabilitation 5. General Provisions WIOA is geared to serve jobseekers AND businesses. Jobseekers: - Unemployed/Underemployed - Seeking training - Facing barriers to employment (e.g., English as a second language, low income, recidivism, homelessness, basic skills deficiency) Businesses: - Placement Services - Job posting - Candidate screening - Events (job fairs, recruitment events, etc.) - Training Services - Incumbent Worker Training - Quick Response Training - Apprenticeship - Work-based learning - Other Services - Rapid Response/Layoff Aversion - Labor market research - Human Resource services - Federal Bonding and Work Opportunity Tax Credit This is a 50,000 foot overview of WIOA, what it is, and who it serves. There are additional programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) --> food stamps and, the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) Welfare Transition Program. These have different funding sources but also utilize WIOA programs to help people get to a place of safety and stability. If you want more detail, I wrote an in depth article here: https://lnkd.in/gzS9v7JA
