🎉 Belfast awarded Best Event Destination UK 2024 🎉 Belfast has once again asserted its position as a premier destination for business tourism and events, securing the city’s status as an unbeatable host destination at this year’s Conference & Incentive Travel (C&IT) awards in London. This is Belfast’s fourth consecutive win as Best Event Destination UK and we couldn't do this without the support of our amazing partnership network! Gerry Lennon, Chief Executive of Visit Belfast commented, “Being recognised as Best Event Destination UK is an outstanding achievement for Belfast and we don’t take these awards lightly. This important win, alongside ICC Belfast's shortlisting as Best UK Venue reflects the city’s growing influence in the international events market for its ability to deliver unique, memorable and highly successful events. Thanks to strong collaboration between Belfast City Council, our partners and wider tourism sector, Belfast continues to make a demonstrable mark as a leading destination for conferences and events and we look forward to building further on this success.” To find out more check out the article below ⬇ : https://lnkd.in/emccMG-K ICC Belfast | Waterfront Hall | Ulster Hall | Belfast City Council #Belfast #BestDestination #eventprofs

Congratulations to local entrepreneur Sarah McKegney from Percy & Pop - Belfast winner of Go Succeed NI's Ultimate Pitch competition! Judges loved Sarah's concept of plastic-free solid hair products for children - inspired by her own experiences as a mum. She will now go onto compete against other business owners in the regional final, coming up on Thursday 21 November during Global Entrepreneurship Week. Sarah is also a previous winner of our own Belfast Business Idea award and has received support from our staff to help progress her business, via the Go Succeed NI programme. #GoSucceedNI #BelfastBusiness #StartABusiness #BusinessGrowth #Entrepreneurship #GEWUK24

So pleased to hear today that we have secured €13.5 million (£11.35 million) from the PEACEPLUS programme, managed by Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) - European Funding to upgrade and better connect Waterworks and Alexandra Parks in the north of the city. Our Reconnected Belfast project will see more shared space developed at both parks to bring communities together, as well as improved connections between the sites and their surrounding areas. Among the planned improvements are upgrades to entrances, paths, lighting, signage, playparks, bridges and pitches, as well as a range of new facilities for users to enjoy. It follows on from almost £15 million already secured by our council from PEACEPLUS back in August to deliver 16 cross-community initiatives across the city over the next three years as part of a Local Action Plan. We'll be holding info sessions later this winter to highlight more about our exciting proposals for Waterworks and Alexandra Parks - look out for details on our website, once confirmed. #InvestingInBelfast #Investment #GoodRelations #CommunityRelations #NorthBelfast #SEUPB #PEACEPLUS

Gym owner Johnny Sloan and personal trainer Anthony McKenzie joined us at City Hall last week to highlight a free event coming up for local businesses and entrepreneurs for #GlobalEntrepreneurshipWeek The pair, from Sloan's Gym in Chapel Lane, will be sharing their own experiences of starting a business, along with other local entrepreneurs, at St George's Market on Tuesday 19 November, 9.30am-12.30pm. Call in to get advice on areas like innovation, staffing, exporting, operations, sales, tendering and more from organisations like Construction Industry Training Board, Federation of Small Businesses NI and Social Enterprise NI, and connect with others thinking about starting their own business or taking the next steps. Our staff will also be on hand to provide guidance around health and safety, business growth and procurement, as well as info about grants available through our council, including the Vacant to Vibrant funding programme - which helped support Sloan's Gym to bring a previously empty building back to life.
