Vidi Global reached its 7th year this past week. What a ride it has been. In the early days, I once told an old advisor of mine that the product we offer is Creativity. They responded with a chuckle and said "Good luck with that." It's 2024. Design, culture, and creative innovation surrounds us every day. And I still think on a broad perspective, creatives and designers are an oppressed class in the realm of business and commerce. We get pushed and pulled often into positions where we have to choose the safer option, where we're needing approval and critiques from those who aren't experts in what we do. It's part of Vidi's true mission to help reframe this backwards ideology in our industry. To accelerate creative thinking and inspire creative people. But in order to do that, we have to strive to become one of the best at what we do. We have to be empathetic and bold at the same time. We have to help leaders believe in the power of expression and inspiration – how it can bring life to their visions and impact the trajectory of culture for the better. This post isn't a knock on the state of things, but a reflection on what we are still set out to do. A reminder of what we believe all creatives are able to do when trusted and given the liberty to create boldly. Here's to all of our amazing partners and clients who have believed in us and given us the platform to soar into our next chapter 🥂

What kind of problem [do] you want to approach and what kind of problem do you want to solve. And for me, I was very clear that whatever problem that we pick, we want that problem to be relevant for 10- 20 years. THIS HAPPENED! Mercari, Inc. not only raised the bar, it redefined the standard. 4 new female directors. 7/12 female directors. When I first started the JBDN, I used to say that every board should have a picture of the Mastercard or the Hitachi board on the wall as a reminder of what globalization and diversity looks like. If you need additional inspiration, now you have Nasdaq (who walks the talk of their rules) Mercari, Inc. and LIXIL. 💡If any company thinks one female is sufficient orthey should wait until 2030 to achieve 30%, I would like to speak to you! 💡If any investor thinks that a voting standard of 1 female board director is sufficient, I would like to speak to you! 💡If any company has not yet considered identifying candidates overseas, note Mercari as another example of companies hiring talent residing overseas. 💡I might suggest a non-Japanese CEO or C-suite as Mercari is certainly a global company - but this was certainly one for the history books! Joyce Cruts is responsible for leading the company's E2E Supply Chain & Operations for the Americas, including their reverse. She has over 20 years' experience resolving complex operation processes in consumer electronics. The approach Joyce uses sounds simplistic: Foster teamwork, listen carefully, look at the fact and use a "handshake approach" with departments and external teams. Many people are extremely focused on the ‘how’ and ‘what’, however she has observed the ‘why’ is of key importance. When you understand the ‘why’, the ‘how’ and the ‘what’ follow organically, and with easier buy‐in. When done right, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished. She believes early career experiences have led her to this moment of working as a global citizen and business executive. Having lived in multiple countries like The Netherlands, Italy, Norway, Hungary and Czech Republic, speaking multiple languages, leading multiple roles within the industry has given her a unique perspective for innovative change. She completed a dual degree program in International Marketing and International Management, as well as an Erasmus-degree in International Economics. This has helped her to be well‐balanced in a wide variety of aspects. She is a member of the Reverse Logistics Association (RLA) as well as Co-Chair of the Consumer Products Committee.
