Fantastic and informative Fireside session today about Digital Health Capability with Alicia Cook and Kerryn Butler-Henderson. So many take-home messages, but I liked the different categories of digital health workforce: - People who care for people: They need to have the digital capability to safely and responsibly use data and technology in delivering the care - People who care for the service: They use the data and technology to care for the services and makes decisions for services, so they need the capability to understand what the data is telling them. - People who care for the data and technology: There are about 20 occupations in this group the HIDDIN workforce (of which I am part of). We need to make sure we can care, support, manage, implement, retain and dispose (when appropriate) the data and knowledge that underpins the other two workforce areas. HIDDIN being Health Informatics, Digital, Data, Information, kNowledge. I also learnt three types of literacy: Health Literacy, Health Information Literacy and Digital Health Literacy.

These were just a few keywords highlighted during CDC’s Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG) Annual Reverse Site Visit in sunny San Diego this week. Recipients, PHIG National Partners (Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, Public Health Accreditation Board, and National Network of Public Health Institutes), and CDC attended educational sessions and networked with colleagues around the country to continue to improve public health infrastructure.   PHIG is a groundbreaking CDC investment to ensure health departments have the people, resources, and systems they need to promote and protect health in their communities.
