One major reason is the lack of focus on NCERT books, which are the foundation of the board syllabus. Coaching teachers should ensure that at the end of each chapter, NCERT questions are discussed in detail. Unfortunately, hardly any coaching centers do this, leaving students without proper guidance on crucial theory, definitions, and derivations. To ensure success in both board exams and competitive tests, it's vital for students and teachers to prioritize solving NCERT textbooks, enhancing their basic understanding and overall preparation.

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will release a new syllabus and textbooks for Classes 3 to 6 while there will be no change in the curriculum and textbooks for other grades for the academic year 2024-25 commencing from April 1. The NCERT has informed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) that new syllabi and textbooks for classes 3 and 6 are currently under development and will soon be released. In a revision of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) after 18 years, the Ministry of Education had last year notified the changes. The NCF had undergone four revisions in the past - in 1975, 1988, 2000, and 2005. "A bridge course for class 6, and concise guidelines for class 3 are being developed by NCERT for facilitating a seamless transition for students to new pedagogical practices and areas of study aligned with NCF-SE 2023. For the academic year 2024-25, the primary focus will be on the new textbooks for Grade 3 and Grade 6. This is so heartening to read Sitharam T.G! It could be one of the big transformations in higher ed - if bodies like AICTE and University Grants Commission (UGC) modify model courses and syllabi to "rationalize" content, and give more flexibility for active and practical learning. As curriculum developer, member of BoS and BoE, have seen how strong is the hold of model recommendations even in autonomous institutes. A change at the top can embolden and enable everyone to change for the better. Another big driver of curricula and therefore teaching-learning is syllabi for CSIR/GATE exams. These need to be contextualized with changing nature of opportunities.

I really like this from Evidence Based Education. Would love to use it as a starter lesson in PSHE as part of a wider 'behaviour curriculum' and see what the students think the difference is between a 'negative good behaviour' and a 'positive good behaviour'.
