CRISP has today signed a MoU with Bodoland Territorial Region set up under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. This makes it the 9th State in which CRISP is functioning. The association involves supporting Bodoland Territorial Council in improving governance systems, including Participatory Planning, bringing in Administrative Accountability, designing systems for monitoring of schemes at the office of the Chief Executive Member, Establishing systems for social accountability using social audits, Strengthening the grassroots governance by building the capacities of the Village Council Development Committees (VCDCs), Streamlining the governmental processes for more citizen-centric administration, Development of manuals for capacity building of Govt personnel, Designing Mission-mode projects with functional and financial autonomy within the Council for crucial schemes. Apart from this, CRISP will advise on specific issues referred to by the BTR Govt. and facilitate its implementation. We propose implementing these projects in close convergence with CEGIS which has already set up a fabulous team in Bodoland.

Eenhana and Ruacana strengthen ties: Maria David THE Eenhana and Ruacana Town Councils recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on various areas of agreed partnerships and cooperation for mutual benefits. This was done in an effort to improve service delivery between the two town councils. Town Mayor Omri-Onn Kavandje said that the MOU aims to strengthen cooperation and partnerships in various areas such as Environmental Management, Local Economic Development, Human Resources Management, Infrastructure Planning and Development, Finance, Public Health, and Community Development. --- Furthermore, he indicated that the initiative will assist both parties in learning from each other’s best practices in service delivery, in accordance with the Local Authority Act, (Act No. 23 of 1992). The MOU will also serve as instrumental guidance for further collaborations on different components such as developmental projects, knowledge and resource sharing, cultural and social exchange programs, capacity building, training, and leadership skills, among others. Respectful, reciprocal relationships are the foundation of our communities and benefit us all. In response to the announcement of South Taranaki District Council’s He Pou Tikanga Partnership Strategy, Mayor Phil Nixon discusses the council’s commitment to work in partnership with mana whenua and encourages his community to support the progress that has been made together. As he mentions, "We work well with our iwi; I think we have a really good relationship, and so it's a matter of building on that and continuing that because I don't want to see any of this go backwards in any way." Ngāruahine representative John Hooker said the new strategy and continued commitment "cements the relationship between iwi and council so that we can build a better future for the whole community."

Join the conversation! We’re working collaboratively with Wheatland County to develop a new Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework (ICF) and Intermunicipal Development Plan (IDP). Both an ICF and IDP are required through the Municipal Government Act (MGA) between municipalities that share a common boundary. Currently, the Town and County do not have an ICF or IDP in place, therefore, to meet MGA requirements these projects have been initiated. What is an ICF? It’s a tool to facilitate and encourage cooperation and cost-sharing between neighbouring municipalities to ensure municipal services are provided to residents efficiently. What is an IDP? It’s an agreement between two or more municipalities, which outline how planning and development decisions will be made when they affect both sides of the boundary lines. How can you get involved? For Phase 1, the Town and County will be hosting an information session on December 13, 2023 from 5 p.m. to p.m. at the Strathmore Civic Centre to introduce the ICF and IDP project and answer any questions the public and interested parties may have.
