Last Thursday saw a group of Aussies volunteer their farming skills at CERES' urban farm in Brunswick, Victoria. Our staff used one of their provided volunteer leave days to help CERES further their vision to reconnect Australians with the Earth through education, both in-person and online. I used to live around the corner from CERES in East Brunswick. It is such a great oasis in the inner city. Wish I knew about this I would have been there, next time.

ICYMI: Last week was International Compost Awareness Week and we celebrated in style, welcoming a group from dentsu for a working bee. They got down and dirty with our Park Team, from tending to our hot composting system (where all the food scraps from The Merri Cafe end up), to maintaining and reworking our #hugelkultur terraces, which is how we process the vast majority of the green waste that is generated on our 10 acre grounds. We love welcoming corporate volunteer groups who help us keep our park beautiful and learn about sustainability our work along the way! Big thumbs up from Farmer Jess for our new Microgreens decking, installed by Lendlease volunteers last week. The decking, made from CERES Fair Wood, will ensure Jess and her volunteers are able to safely move across the site. We are grateful for the support of Lendlease in donating their time, equipment, materials and expertise to deliver this important upgrade to the Microgreens area.
