Welcome to Concurrent you are going to love the WPA team! I’m excited to be working with Mark again, better know as “Woody”!! I’ve been talking with Mark since joining Concurrent, he too has seen the industry trends shift to a supported RIA model. Allowing advisors to find true independence, freeing them of the confines found in the IBD space. The traditional IBD space often limits advisors to an antiquated tech platform, reduced product offering, singular lending and custodial options. Makes you wonder why it’s called Independence.

A very engaging and lively (to say the least) discussion of alternative fund structures yesterday at the Institutional Investor Alternatives Conference. It was great debating the pros and cons with Victoria Greene, CFA, Saumen Chattopadhyay, CFA®, CPA, FCA and Mark Gatto. A lot of great viewpoints on the democratization of alternatives downstream to high net worth individuals is real. Ultimately advisors talking with clients need to understand both the investment merits and operational implications for the client (liquidity, mark-to-market), and make sure that clients understand them too.
