👏Well done to our #seedsofchange participants Wild Inishowen Club and Inishowen Beekeeper's Association who collaborated to deliver an informative talk about Garden Ponds for Wildlife, hosted at The Exchange Inishowen last night. Approximately 40 local people turned out to hear George Mc Dermott and Colm Grant deliver an informative talk with lots of examples of different types of ponds 💦and the variety of wildlife they attract. Also, good advice was offered on how to create your pond and the equipment ⛏needed with some live examples of the types of plants that can be grown in ponds. There was an important section on invasive species (both plants and animals) that can be damaging to #biodiversity and should be avoided. The next step is to do a Field Trip later in the Spring to visit different local ponds so be sure to look out for that. We at Inishowen Development Partnership are delighted to support this great work through our ChangeMakers Donegal Seeds of Change🌱Funding and Mentoring Programme. 🌏Together we can explore and imagine solutions for a better world. 🐸 By taking action at a local level, these community groups are supporting @theglobal goals; #SDG4 Quality Education, #SDG11 Sustainable Communities, #SDG13 Climate, #SDG14 Life Below Water, #SDG15 Life on Land, #SDG17 Partnership for the Goals. #sustainability #donegal #inishowen #change #changemakers #seedsofchange #sustainabilitypassport #local #community #collaboration #biodiversity #localaction

On this World NGO Day, we look back on the challenges we faced, it is clear that collaboration across sectors is the linchpin for meaningful action. Together, we possess the ability to amplify transformation and contribute to the well-being of our communities and the conservation of nature and wildlife — because together, we thrive. Your unwavering support serves as the driving force behind our success. We called upon you to be our partners and you answered that call, and for that, we are thankful. But we still have a long way to go. One of the biggest mistakes we can all make is to think that the small changes in our lives can't mean big changes in others. We're family, together on one planet. So, we ask on this World NGO Day, what change can you make? #WorldNGODay #WorldNGODay2024 #WildlifeConservation #Biodiversity #ClimateChange #SustainableDevelopement #WildlifeProtection #Akashinga

It's little short of scandalous that this proposal should have re-surfaced so soon after the lengthy and expensive public inquiry which came out against a similar application. The waste of public funds, and those of many charities, is obvious. The gap between rhetoric and reality in national talk about halting biodiversity loss will also be clear if this isn't reined-in by the Scottish Government.
Our Chief Executive, Jo Pike, has written to Joe Fitzpatrick MSP and Lorna Slater MSP requesting that the application for a golf course at Coul Links is called in by The Scottish Government after being approved The Highland Council. "Government high-level ambition on the nature and climate crisis is clear. The draft Scottish Biodiversity Strategy puts in place the entirely necessary, ambitious targets of halting biodiversity loss by 2030 and restoring and regenerating biodiversity by 2045. Additionally, the National Planning Framework 4, Policy 3 claims to “rebalance the planning system in favour of conserving, restoring and enhancing biodiversity and promotes investment in nature-based solutions, benefiting people and nature.” It is the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s view that these statements would mean very little without effective actions to back them up. In the case of Coul Links, this means calling in the application." Write to your MSP to #SaveCoulLinks. https://lnkd.in/eppKtJQm Kenny Taylor| National Trust for Scotland | RSPB | Plantlife International | Butterfly Conservation | Marine Conservation Society | Buglife | British Lichen Society | Scottish Environment LINK |

Earth Day gives individuals, companies, and governments an opportunity to reflect on the health of our planet and what we can do to protect it—now and for future generations. For Q+P, we had an early Earth Day celebration over the weekend: our 2024 WWF #ClimbForNature team—our biggest yet—climbed the steps of the CN Tower to raise money for wildlife conservation and natural habitat protection. While every day can feel like Earth Day for a firm like ours, the growing focus on nature among our clients and across industries gives us hope that this is a priority for everyone. Through our memberships in the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) Forum and the Canadian TNFD Consultation Group, we are contributing to the implementation of nature-related disclosures and leverage those insights when guiding clients on the importance of adopting nature into their strategies. We feel fortunate to work with many sustainability leaders who, like us, see a future where nature and business can thrive together. #EarthDay #Sustainability #TNFD

Great to speak to 30x30 lunch and learn on biodiversity spending. Key stat worth pondering: 49% of Australia's GDP is at least moderately dependent on the environment, but our governments spend less than 0.1% of GDP year protecting it.
Cyan Ventures co-founder Shaun Chau recently spoke to the The Pew Charitable Trusts team to discuss the pressing issue of Australia's nature crisis. He shared key findings from our latest report on behalf of "30 by 30", which highlights the critical need for greater support to safeguard Australia’s unique flora and fauna. The report reveals that Australian federal government spending on protecting nature equates to 0.1% of the total budget, despite scientific advice that much more is required to achieve national and international conservation protection targets. It's #WorldBeeDay 🐝 Did you know that nearly 90% of the world’s wild flowering plant species depend on animal pollination 😲 Not only do pollinators contribute directly to food security, but they are key to conserving biodiversity. So, well beeing of the bees, is our well being too! In partnership with the Wellbeeing Foundation we want to improve the well-being and survival of bees and other pollinators. Why? Because the future of humanity, depends on pollinators. The Wellbeeing Foundation is an Amsterdam-founded group of beekeepers and friends who are dedicated to improving the well-being and survival of bees in the long term, through community education and maintenance of natural beehives across these locations in Amsterdam: 🐝 Currently, we have colonies in: 🐝 The Westerpark Bee Palace 🐝 Lab111 🐝 Sarphatipark 🐝 Tuin van West You can donate or sponsor a beehive here > https://lnkd.in/eMJhfPBd #Bees #Honey #HeyHoney #Impact #Sustainability

Rest is a crucial part of life and if productivity must be maintained, rest must be included in our schedule. Some of our feathered friends are losing their place of rest to anthropogenic activities. Let’s Spotlight on the Majestic Secretarybird one of endangered species in Africa. In the sun-drenched savannas of Africa, a striking figure strides across the grasslands, its quirky quills and powerful physique making it a sight to behold. But despite its impressive appearance, the Secretarybird (Sagittarius serpentarius) is facing a silent crisis, its numbers dwindling at an alarming rate. Found in the grasslands and open plains of sub-Saharan Africa, the Secretarybird is a critically endangered species, with estimates suggesting that only 6,700 individuals remain in the wild. Habitat destruction, human-wildlife conflict, and poisoning have all contributed to the decline of this magnificent bird, which plays a vital role in maintaining the ecosystem's balance. It's time to take action! We must work together to protect the Secretarybird and its habitat. Join the Fight to Save the Secretarybird! Join Green-for-Life Initiative to create a save environment for these birds and other endangered species. https://lnkd.in/dfUWBNSy #TreePlanting #Green-for-LifeInitiative #NGO #Treeplanting #BirdConservation #protectourplanet #eco-friendly #ClimateAction #EnvironmentalAwareness #WildlifeMatters #Sustainability #SustainableLiving #ConservationConnects #BirdLove #WildlifeConservation #EcosystemHeroes #BirdProtection #Sustainability #NatureLovers #BirdLovers #Sustainability #CommunityFirst #Greenify #Volunteer #Donate #SpreadTheWord

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲: 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗧𝗠𝗙 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘙𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘸: 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 Through this project, the Grootvadersbosch Conservancy Trust aims to enrich rural youth's understanding and appreciation of freshwater systems in the Greater Cape Floristic Region. This will be accomplished by creating five "state of the river" reports using data from local miniSASS and SASS5 activities conducted near areas where youth live and play. The project will support a national citizen science initiative for river health reporting and encourage local organisations to produce similar reports for their catchments. This initiative will raise awareness among youth, foster local conservation efforts, and help hold decision-makers accountable for implementing improvements in river health. #FynbosPride #TMFInTheField #ConservationFunding #CommunityConservation #EnvironmentalEducation #mentorship #CapeFloralKingdom #fynboseducation #FynbosForever #youthinconservation #freshwaterconservation Credit: Grootvadersbosch Conservancy

Today, NAP and Tribal leaders are leading a day of this year’s Biodiversity Funders Group Land and Freshwater Annual Meeting to showcase the immense success of Native leadership in the conservation sector. With Indigenous voices at the helm, the day has been a collaborative opportunity for funders and Tribal leaders to strategize on future projects and celebrate the progress already underway. Over the last three years, significant gains have been made for conservation and biodiversity protection, through Administrative protection, state and local efforts, and leadership by Tribal Nations. We will explore the ways that philanthropy, Tribal governments and organizations, and state and federal agencies can work together to ensure the durability of these protections. We will learn from successes and challenges, hear about urgent opportunities, and look out at longer horizons. Above all, we hope all attendees leave this three-day meeting with a shared vision for how we might collectively build a nature-positive future ☀️ #WeAreIndigenous #ClimateChange #Sustainability #Conservation #ClimateConservation #IndigenousKnowledge #Native #NativeAmerican #IndigenousWisdom #NativeLed #NativePhilanthropy #Philanthropy
