The European micromobility market continues to grow, but rapid expansion has outpaced regulation, resulting in a somewhat messy regulatory environment. TRL's work for the European Commission in 2021 (link below) outlined a variety of options for the technical regulation of Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs). Now, in partnership with fka GmbH, we are building on this previous study to investigate the feasibility and potential consequences of the application of a set of minimum technical requirements, and possible compliance mechanisms, for the most common types of PMD. The objective is to provide the Commission with a set of detailed recommendations on how to harmonise technical rules for PMDs across the EU, ultimately to support innovation in micromobility whilst also maximising safety, environmental sustainability and societal utility. #micromobility #regulation 2021 study: https://lnkd.in/gafinEa)

Last week, our Business Development colleagues Florian Dopler and Nikolaus Brunner made their way to Munich to attend Power2Drive, the international exhibition for charging infrastructure and e-mobility with a focus on sustainable mobility. Here are some insights from the event: 🚀 The charging infrastructure sector is currently developing very quickly. There are new developments all the time, both on the hardware and software side. 🌍 The Nordics and Benelux are strongly represented, but German companies are also bringing exciting developments to the market. 🇪🇺 #AFIR (the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation) is the hot topic. However, there is still uncertainty in many areas, as the legislation itself is sometimes vague in its communication. 👉 With ad-hoc payments, charging stations in Austria are subject to fiscalization. In Germany, this also applies under certain conditions. AVERE - The European Association for Electromobility, BEM | Bundesverband eMobilität e.V. and BVe Bundesverband eMobility-Austria are great resources to get information, particularly for CPMS (Chargepoint Management System) providers who don’t have fiscalization regulations in European countries on their radar yet. #Power2Drive #emobility #evcharging
