Rod Carrs quote hits it home that transport is 40% of New Zealand non-agricultural emissions and 70% of that is from our light vehicle fleet. Our business sector has an important part to play. 60% of new cars are brought by businesses and they go on to spend 2 decades on our roads. Climate change is not slowing down and waiting for us. We need to literally put our foot down decarbonising our mobility. #zilch #sustainablemobility #driveelectric
New Zealand's electric vehicle (EV) fleet is charging ahead, and it's a win-win for all - from eco-conscious drivers to our environment. SAE International is taking a significant step forward by developing a certification program tailored to address the current shortage of technicians capable of maintaining EV charging stations. Anticipated to launch by year-end, this program aims to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the charging infrastructure. Pennsylvania's case highlights a broader concern. Although the state's share of non-operational charging ports is relatively small, it emphasizes a nationwide challenge. Current data from the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation reveals that approximately 7,900 charging ports at 4,200 locations are temporarily offline due to maintenance. Investing in skilled technicians becomes imperative as we move towards a more sustainable future. https://lnkd.in/gTFZk6M3 #EVCharging #SustainableTransportation #SAEInternational #AutobodyNews
