#WorldFoodDay highlights the urgent need for global collaboration to ensure access to nutritious food for all, while addressing issues like hunger, food insecurity, and sustainable agricultural practices. Our grantee partner, Bancos de Alimentos ARGENTINA does just that. Over the years, CAF America donors have contributed nearly $800,000 to support Bancos de Alimentos ARGENTINA’s food rescue initiatives, benefitting more than 300,000 people. These contributions have helped train volunteers, improve logistics, and increase the volume of rescued food, particularly fruits and vegetables, which are critical to improving nutrition among vulnerable populations. Despite challenges like high logistics costs and the perishability of produce, Bancos de Alimentos Argentina continues to make a significant impact by adapting its operations and expanding its food rescue programs, demonstrating the importance of sustained philanthropic investment in local hunger solutions. As we reflect on today’s World Food Day, read more about our collaboration with Bancos de Alimentos Argentina in our blog: https://lnkd.in/eJitnBYN

Earlier this year, CAF America’s Annual Site Visit program sent 14 team members around the world to strengthen relationships, improve grant strategies, and monitor project progress with our grantee partners. Richard Norman and Angelica Gonzalez visited four nonprofit organizations in Argentina including Bancos de Alimentos ARGENTINA, a civil society organization that coordinates food rescue programs across the country. Bancos de Alimentos Argentina’s mission is to reduce food waste and combat hunger, particularly in light of Argentina’s severe inflation, which has exacerbated food insecurity. Their network of food banks rescues produce deemed “unsellable” and redistributes it to vulnerable populations, serving as a vital resource in the fight against hunger.
