**Real Estate Leaders + Refugee Resettlement = ** Our team attended MIT Center for Real Estate's World Real Estate Forum last week & hosted a lunch discussion on the #RefugeeWelcomingRentalMarket with C-suite executives from Redevco, Fannie Mae (the 4th-largest company in the world!), and more. We’re making connections that have a ton of potential, but need your help to continue serving refugees & landlords. Please donate or share our GoFundMe for grassroots support (LINK IN COMMENTS) sooner rather than later, since platforms like GoFundMe boost campaigns that boom in the first week! #refugees #realestate

How will you stand up? It wasn't long ago that I sat in the Scottish Refugee Council offices in Glasgow to talk about the partnership with Amiqus. We have committed £100k of funding to support the fantastic work delivered by the charity. This was at a time when Rwanda flights were still on the table, amongst a range of other Government-backed policies to step up the so-called 'hostile environment'. I was really inspired when Dr Sabir Zazai (OBE, FRSE) talked about how Amiqus' financial contribution was important but really the value was in having an organisation stand up against the prevailing anti-asylum rhetoric and publicly declare their support. Looking at the violence across the UK over the past weeks, it is perhaps unsurprising that we have gotten to this place. My hope is that out of the horror and hate, perhaps some small good might emerge in the form of individuals and organisations understanding the urgent need to also take a stand. At Amiqus, our next effort is to 'Zip Slide the Clyde'. This will see the team brave a 100ft zip line across the Clyde. If you're disgusted by recent events, you can counter-protest by making a donation to our Just Giving page. https://lnkd.in/eJ4F-D7P Better yet, reach out to the team at the Scottish Refugee Council and see if your organisation could help for the longer term. All of us are just a set of bad circumstances away from being asylum seekers or refugees. Your support is needed now more than ever 💙 #scottishrefugeecouncil #zipslidetheclyde #refugeeswelcome #purposeledbusiness #supportrefugees #humanrights

Refugees can experience acute anxiety about the complex asylum process. They may worry about accommodation, money, education, access to legal advice. And there is often a constant concern about loved ones left behind or missing, according to the Refugee Council. All this takes a heavy toll on their mental wellbeing. Our Refugee Support Group exists to support one family in relocating from a refugee camp in Syria or Afghanistan in a planned and safe manner, avoiding the dangerous boat journeys. We need your help. This could be showing your support for our cause, helping us raise the necessary funds, or supporting the family on their arrival. Right now, we especially need support with: 🔵 Understanding the housing market and finding suitable accommodation for a family 🔵 Raising funds to help the family meet the high housing costs in Islington Can you help? As we gather with our families to celebrate the joy and peace of Christmas, it's important to remember those who are far from home. This festive season, countless refugees around the world are facing challenges that most of us can hardly imagine. The spirit of Christmas is about giving, kindness, and hope. It's a time when small acts of generosity can make a big difference. The plight of refugees, often fleeing conflict or persecution, is especially poignant during this time of year when the sense of family and belonging is so pronounced. This year, let's come together as a global community to support all refugees. Whether it's through donating to UNHCR, volunteering at local shelters, or simply spreading awareness about the refugee crisis, every effort counts. By offering our support, we're not just providing material aid – we're giving the gift of hope and showing that even in their darkest times, refugees are not forgotten. Let's make this Christmas a season of true giving and compassion. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. #RefugeeSupport #ChristmasSpirit #GlobalCommunity #UNHCR

Refugees and asylum seekers have often overcome the unimaginable to seek safety and protection. They’ve left behind loved ones, communities and vital support systems. Sadly, for many, their uncertainty doesn't end when they arrive here in the UK, and many find themselves facing homelessness. You can read more in this week's blog 👇 #homelessness #charity #blog

We, as a #society, must uphold the universal human rights of all members of society regardless of their #ethnicity. Race is a construct for #discrimination created to serve those who use it as a tool to commit atrocities against other human beings and to justify their criminal acts. The people of this world must transform their values to align with the highest standard of protecting human rights. Applying the rule of law and justice ⚖️ should mean that a #crime is punishable regardless of ethnicity. To the people of the United Kingdom (#UK) 🇬🇧, European Union 🇪🇺, and the United States 🇺🇸, you must resist the uprising of #racism in your civilized world, lest you transform into a #barbaric social order. Anywhere on this earth where human rights are being violated, we must resist to elevate perpetrators to their desired thrones of injustice.
Racism poisons communities, fuels conflict and creates obstacles for peace. But, all of us can take action to #FightRacism: 🔹 Speak up and advocate for change. 🔹 Educate yourself and others on the issues. 🔹 Show support by donating your time and skills. https://lnkd.in/eGkSCSKK 📷: UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency
