Before the event: Set the foundation for success Event life cycle step 1: Determine goals and objectives What is your event’s purpose? Defining your why gives you direction for everything else you do, from choosing a ticketing partner to setting attendance and profit goals, to going after sponsorships and vendor partnerships. Event life cycle step 2: Put together a working budget and price your event If you’ve planned a specific event before, you can start with your budget from last year. If you’re putting on a new event, make educated guesses and use this event budget template to get started. This is also the time to set your ticket prices to make sure you’ll make enough to at least break even and, ideally, make profit.

In response to the latest Operation Plate Licker video, Angela York says: "As a consumer it’s a huge pet peeve of mine to go to a website and see inaccurate or outdated information. To me, it’s a sign of lack of detail and not caring. If you can’t update your website with current information don’t have it at all or keep it evergreen." Watch this video to see what she's talking about. #EventAdvisors #FinServEvents #RegistrationTips
Strategic Marketing Maven | Transforming Events into Marketing Powerhouses | Connecting You with Key Industry Players to Help You Grow Your Business
🚀 Operation Plate Licker Update! 🍽️ As of now, I still haven't heard from the firm sponsoring our dinner next week. However, thanks to my diligent partner Angela York, she did some digging and discovered a website related to the event. But here’s the catch: when I checked the site's events page, I noticed two dates listed—July and August. Our event? Nowhere in sight! 🗓️ Additionally, while I appreciated the food choices displayed, they might not even be what’s offered at our dinner. Here’s my tip for anyone organizing an event: ALWAYS keep your website updated! Even if you're not taking registrations online, having the right information ensures attendees know they’re in the right place. I’m assuming this is linked to the advisor hosting our event, but it certainly doesn’t clarify that. Let’s see how this unfolds! Stay tuned for more updates! 👀 #FInServEvents #EventAdvisors #OperationPlateLicker

Convention FOMO is real. Is it just me or have the "best industry events" become exclusive to a fault? *We're going to discuss all of the challenges plaguing our industry, but we're not going to invite anyone who can help.* Make it make sense?! 🤔 Operators don't just want to commiserate over their problems at these things, they want to solve them! And suppliers don't want to guess, we want to learn and do better. Annnnd for the low, low cost of my Q1 budget, I can slap my logo on a banner to be there if I want it bad enough... But is that the message we should be sending? At a time when the operator/supplier relationship has never been more important, why does the operator/supplier divide feel bigger than its ever been? #conference #events #convention #foodserviceindustry --- Do you agree? Or better yet, do you disagree? I'm curious if others are seeing the value of operator-only events vs. more inclusive events?
