The next big milestone on our road to the future is in sight: Evonik’s first fumed aluminum oxide production plant in Asia for lithium-ion batteries is due to start production in 2025. It is located in Yokkaichi and will be operated by NIPPON AEROSIL CO., LTD, one of the Evonik Group companies in Japan. For Evonik, it is a significant investment in a key technology in one of the fastest growing markets for electromobility. The new production facility also strengthens the Yokkaichi production site and the economic ties between the company and the region. On a visit to Evonik’s headquarters in Essen, Katsuyuki Ichimi, Governor of Mie Prefecture, said: “We are very pleased that Mie Prefecture has been chosen as the site for new plant. We will continue to provide as much support as possible, not only through subsidies but also in terms of personnel recruitment." Emmanuel Auer, Head of the Silica Business Line, points out that strong support from the government and the local community is essential for the growth of a chemical company. #EvonikSilica #Silica
