Chemical data gives your team a foundation for health & safety, environmental reporting, and more, but it isn’t always easy to come by. You need to know that the data you rely on is both complete and accurate, but how? Even basic chemical properties can sometimes be difficult to track down, and it only becomes more challenging from there. Your team must also ensure that they know which chemicals are reportable under which regulations, with thresholds and chemical lists constantly changing. This challenge can’t be overcome without a dedicated team of environmental scientists and regulatory experts. How to Verify Contractors: • Check Credentials: Vet potential waste disposal contractors thoroughly by checking their credentials, certifications, and regulatory compliance history. • Request References: Request references and review their disposal practices, particularly their compliance with environmental regulations. • Confirm Permits: Ensure they have a proper waste handling and disposal permit and understand the specific requirements for disposing of hazardous chemicals. Regular Audits: • Conduct Periodic Audits: Conduct periodic audits of waste disposal practices to verify compliance with your requirements and regulatory standards. • Review Documentation: Review waste disposal documentation, such as manifests and receipts, to ensure proper tracking from generation to final disposal. • Evaluate Facilities: Evaluate the contractor’s facilities and processes to ensure they align with environmental best practices.

🔵 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐄𝐏𝐀 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝 21? Created by the 𝐔𝐒 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 (𝐄𝐏𝐀) due to noncompliance issues with 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫 (𝐋𝐃𝐀𝐑) programs. The 𝐄𝐏𝐀 introduced Method 21, a stringent approach aimed at reducing the annual emissions of 40,000 tons of 𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 (𝐕𝐎𝐂𝐬) from compromised equipment at petroleum plants. 𝐄𝐏𝐀 Method 21 focuses on the detection of 𝐕𝐎𝐂 leaks in equipment such as valves, pumps, and compressors using specialised monitoring instruments. This method is crucial for ensuring safety and environmental compliance, as 𝐕𝐎𝐂 exposure can lead to significant health and fire hazards.
