Congratulations to our dedicated community wardens who are now equipped to offer even greater mental health support to people across the district! Trudie, Helen, and Yvonne completed Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) with local charity Nai’s House, which enhances their ability to help anyone suffering a mental health crisis. Trudie reflected on the training, “I now feel confident and empowered to ask questions and have challenging conversations with individuals about suicide." Our wardens are always on patrol, ready to listen and assist. Let's break the stigma around mental health together. Reaching out is a sign of strength. It's #GlobalAccessibilityAwarenessDay As a children's mental health charity we want to make mental health support accessible for all. To help us with this goal we wanted to take a moment to share some tips that we follow when we write or share information: • write in plain language • use simple sentences and bullet points (like this list!) • make sure to use alt text to describe images • make text size big enough and use good colour contrast We do this to make sure the work and information we share is inclusive and can be read and understood by as many people as possible, while knowing we can always learn more and improve. What other tips can you share to help us on our accessibility journey? #GAAD2024 #ChildrensMentalHealth #CharityComms

🌍💚 World Suicide Prevention Day: Changing the Narrative 💚🌍 Today, Gallagher Group joins the The Lighthouse Charity to raise awareness for mental health in the construction community. With over 700,000 lives lost to suicide each year, we must change the narrative surrounding this issue. The theme for World Suicide Prevention Day is “Changing the Narrative on Suicide,” urging us to Start the Conversation. Every conversation—no matter how small—can help break down the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide, creating a more supportive society. Let’s prioritise mental health in our workplaces and advocate for policies that provide vital support. Together, we can make a difference. Remember, you are never alone. 💪💛 #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #GallagherGroup #LighthouseCharity #ChangingTheNarrative #StartTheConversation #MentalHealthMatters

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week organised by Mental Health Foundation. This is something we are keen to support. There is a disproportionate amount of people in the construction industry that die by suicide and our team here know first-hand the effects of mental health problems on our friends, family and customers. This is why as a business we try to proactively highlight the problem to raise awareness, stop the stigma and support those that are affected. For construction industry workers, look to Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity who run the Help Inside the Hard Hat campaign. They provide support and resources. Local to Bradford and Keighley we have the Check-In With Your Mate campaign from West Yorkshire Suicide Prevention that supports men and aims to raise awareness of male suicide - visit their website for excellent resources and urgent help. #checkinwithyourmate #westyorkshiresuicideprevention #helpinsidethehardhat #constructionindustry #mentalhealthsawareness #keighley #bradford #mentalhealthawarenessweek #momentsformovement

#everylifematters Every Life Matters Cumbria is an amazing charity working hard in Cumbria to save lives, raise awareness and prevent suicide and assist those bereaved by suicide. I attended their Orange Button Community Scheme, which is a 3 hour suicide awarenes and prevention training session. It gives you the confidence to talk to others about suicide. It is a way of showing others in your community who are having thoughts of suicide, or are worried about somebody else, that you are: comfortable to say / hear the word suicide, can listen without judgement and can inform people where to find help and support The Orange Button community is not a substitute for counselling, mental health support or a crisis service. The Orange Button is a community scheme made up of members of the public. It is about listening, information giving and signposting. The key learning is that to prevent suicide, you can be "helpfully nosy", show compassion and listen. Thoughts of suicide can be temporary, and it is not always inevitable that someone will act on those thoughts. Highly recommend this training if you live in #cumbria and look out for it in other areas of UK. #suicideprevention #suicideawareness

This May is Mental Health Awareness Month. There are more than a quarter of a million children in England on the waiting list for mental health support, which is shocking. The more we can help to support our children and young people the better - and we must. For care experienced young people accessing mental health support can be even tougher. That's why we are working in partnership with The Mix Charity to place a Mental Health Hub right at the fingertips of care experienced young people, giving them instant help and support. This is just one small way that we are caring for care leavers. #careexperienced #CareLeaversApp #mentalhealthawarenessmonth
