Education for Protection and Wellbeing (EPW) program brings together all #children actors to work for children’s development, growth and Protection. We tested it in two schools two years ago and it proofed to be very successful, hence, we scaled it up, adding 8 other schools in West Coast Region to the program under the project “Promoting Primary Education in 8 Schools” in West Coast Region funded by BMZ. That’s why #ChildFund organized two weeks training for teachers on Social and Emotional Learning and Self Protection. The key competencies for children in self protection covered include; 1. Children being able to identify their rights and responsibility. 2. Knowing safe and unsafe situations. 3. Identify networks of trusted adults. 4. Assertiveness. 5. Reporting mechanism (knowing when and how to report) Great job Bakary Seedy Dampha (Buba) and Team! #education #protection #empowerment

The education system in Cameroon's Northwest and Southwest regions faces major challenges due to the ongoing Anglophone crisis. This conflict has disrupted schooling, displaced many children and families, and created instability that has undermined the ability to provide quality education. In an upcoming webinar, "Career Parenting: A Holistic Approach to Promoting Education," Royalty World aims to address these educational needs through transformative discussions and initiatives that aim to redefine the educational landscape for families and children in the affected regions. Join us on July 27th as we explore a comprehensive and inclusive approach to education and capacity development in crisis-hit communities. #EducationInCameroon #CareerParenting #EducationalSupport #ScholarshipOpportunities #TransformativeInitiatives #HolisticApproach

Today our Tanzania Early Childhood Education and Care (TECEC) team had a home visit where we found children immersed in play. Play and learning are inseparable in early childhood, but their importance often goes unrecognized. Play is not merely a pastime; it is vital for a child's development. Through play, children develop problem-solving, creativity, and social skills. We advocate for recognizing the value of play. Let's raise awareness about the significance of play in early childhood and ensure every child has the opportunity to play and explore freely. #PlayAndLearn #EarlyChildhoodDevelopment #PowerOfPlay

Five Protective Factors are the foundation of the Strengthening Families Approach: parental resilience, social connections, concrete support in times of need, knowledge of parenting and child development, and social and emotional competence of children. Research studies support the notion that when these Protective Factors are well established in a family, the likelihood of child abuse and neglect diminishes. Research shows that these protective factors are also “promotive” factors that build family strengths and a family environment that promotes optimal child and youth development. This framework can be added to any services that you are already providing families. I can offer this training for your group and the time of the training can be customized to fit your individual needs. Please contact me if you would like your agency to be trained.

We are back in schools and eagerly exploring RSHE & Skills in our Teacher Training/INSET sessions. Which feels so very needed for 2025. This excellent Research Report https://lnkd.in/e_UUcdYU 'Teaching Relationships Education to Prevent Sexual Abuse' (Sept 2024) from the Department for Education, combined with the Youth Endowment Fund research https://lnkd.in/g96fBB_9, is really fascinating from an RSHE & Safeguarding perspective... these are the vital skills we see teachers working so hard to develop in their young people. Self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision-making have never felt so needed. If the aim is 'for pupils to be able to distinguish between someone who cares about them and someone who is being exploitative, and to enable critical thinking.' then we need more more more Social Emotional Learning (SEL) for 2025 please. Happy new term to you all...
