The killing of Jumana and her two newborn twin babies deeply affected all of us and HEAL Palestine because we were actively involved in helping her to have a safe delivery and to provide her and her new babies the humanitarian aid needed and deserved. We need peace and freedom for Palestine more than ever. 🇵🇸✌🏻☮️

Russian unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Ukraine has resulted in a significant refugee crisis. According to the UN Refugee Agency, over 76% of these refugees still hope to return home one day. This highlights the urgent need for Congress to take immediate action by allocating necessary funds not only for military support but also for vital humanitarian aid. It is essential that this aid reaches those most affected across the globe, helping alleviate suffering and promoting peace and stability worldwide. By doing so, we uphold our nation’s values of compassion and solidarity with those in need. Today marks #WorldHumanitarianDay. 2023 was the deadliest year on record for humanitarians, with 280 losing their lives—most of them being local staff dedicated to aiding their own communities. In 2024, 170 humanitarians have already been killed. The Centre For Community-Driven Research (NGO) supports colleagues in calling on those in power to take decisive action to protect civilians, including humanitarians, in conflict zones. It is crucial that humanitarian aid reaches all those in need, safely, swiftly, and without obstruction. #NotATarget #actforhumanity

Two years since the escalation of the Russia-Ukraine armed conflict, fighting and shelling are still everyday realities for millions of people living in Ukraine. Many Ukrainians have lost their loved ones, homes, and livelihoods, and are struggling to get the basics necessary for survival. They need food, basic items, and medical assistance. More than six million people are refugees in neighbouring countries and also in dire need. Thank you to everyone who has generously contributed to our Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal. Your generosity has already helped 18 million people through Ukrainian Red Cross, International Committee of the Red Cross - ICRC, and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC. This includes providing immediate emergency relief, shelter items, health care, and psychosocial support. Your support enabled us to send specialist delegates from New Zealand to the region to support cash distribution and security work. It has also enabled us to provide employment assistance to Ukrainians who’ve come to Aotearoa — sponsored by family members — and who are looking for work. You can make a huge difference to someone’s life by providing them with a job. The old way isn't working. Mass atrocities are occurring simultaneously in several places around the world. Violence and persecution has driven more than 120 million people to flee their homes. It is robbing children of their childhood and creating lost generations. It's not enough to provide humanitarian aid after mass atrocities we must invest more in prevention. Prevention not only protects civilians from harm it also helps limit the need for costly emergency assistance and rebuilding after conflict. The international community has proven it is extraordinarily bad at responding to mass atrocities. With more investment in prevention and shifts in policy to cut off support for and hold accountable any state that is engaging in mass atrocities or failing to protect their people we may be able to make a change. #humanrights #peace #news #crimesagainsthumanity #warcrimes #ethniccleansing #genocide #massatrocities #Sudan #Darfur #DRC #MYANMAR #Ukraine #Gaza #westbank #israel #Haiti #Ethiopia #southsudan

World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is observed annually on 19 August to honour humanitarians worldwide and their tireless efforts to serve communities. It was designated by the United Nations General Assembly in 2008 to coincide with the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the UN headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq, which resulted in the death of 22 colleagues. The tragedy profoundly changed how humanitarians operate from being respected to being targeted – and led to the creation of WHD. 2023 marked the deadliest year on record for humanitarian workers worldwide. 2024 is on track to be even worse. In Syria, the conflict continues unabated after more than 13 years of fighting. In 2024, it remains one of the world’s largest displacement crises. Almost half of the country’s internally displaced residents reside alone in the northwest. Since 2014, over 12,700 civilians in north-west Syria alone have been killed by hostilities including at least 130 aid workers. Today, we call everybody to #ActForHumanity to raise awareness and acknowledge the precious work of humanitarians. (Source: International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) & United Nations OCHA)

Urgent Action Needed: Save Lives in Tigray The ongoing famine in Tigray is a man-made catastrophe caused by genocide and callous disregard for human life. Millions face starvation, with thousands already perishing. I urge the international community to take immediate action: -Provide sustained humanitarian aid -Ensure unrestricted access for aid in the forcefully and unconstitutionally occupied areas by Amhara and Eritrean forces. -Investigate and hold accountable those responsible Together, we can make a difference. Let's raise our voices and demand action to save lives in Tigray. #HumanRights #TigrayFamine

"“Excellencies, the true cost of this latest war in Palestine and Israel will be measured in children’s lives – those lost to the violence and those forever changed by it. Without an end to the fighting and full humanitarian access, the cost will continue to grow exponentially. “The destruction of Gaza and killing of civilians will not bring peace or safety to the region. The people of this region deserve peace. Only a negotiated political solution – one that prioritizes the rights and wellbeing of this and future generations of Israeli and Palestinian children – can ensure that." https://lnkd.in/eNdztTpy.
