⁉ eCommerce is the great equalizer in the retail and shopper marketing space. You know why? Because the industry, at the advent of Retail Media has changed so drastically, years of experience matter less. Take these two sample candidates when hiring for a Retail Media Lead: 1️⃣ Candidate 1: - 5 years of Retail Media Experience - 20 years of shopper marketing experience - Salary Expectation: $250k 2️⃣ Candidate 2: - 5 Years of Retail Media Experience - 0 Years Shopper Marketing Experience - Salary Expectation: $75k 😬 While I mean no offense to those who have deep experience in commerce and the retail world, you can see that there is a clear advantage for newcomers to the space. 😮 For an agency or brand looking to fill a role, they can do so with a seasoned leader who only at the tail end of their career learned retail media, or a candidate who's entire professional career has been focused on Retail Media. 😁 There are certainly companies who need leaders and not just expertise, but for an industry so new, we are short on knowledge, and deep on experience in other spaces. 💲 While every situation is different, you can see the appeal of a newer talent to the space, simply based on cost. #ecommerce #retailmedia #shoppermarketing
