I worked with both sides in Commons and the Lords at each stage and have now published the Plain Guide to the Building Safety Act. I have spent two years immersed in the construction industry. The Hackitt Report demanded culture change and the Act, if implemented with energy (and resources) by the regulators will deliver it. The Inquiry Report will lead to criminal convictions and, hopefully, some closure to the victims' families and the community. However, just keeping an eye on LinkedIn posts shows what a mixed picture in the construction industry remains from top to bottom (I won't mention the pink foam firestopping syndrome). The new administration must resource the regulators: the HSE; the BSR; LAs; and FRS to deliver culture change. The major developers still have a £ sign where 'N' normally appears.
