We understand what it means to be a military student. Kelvin, a US Navy veteran, chose Purdue Global because he appreciated an online school that has a faculty who knows what military students are dealing with. Like Kelvin, you have demands, duties and responsibilities, and #PurdueGlobal is here to support you through it all. Watch his story now, and start your comeback today at purdueglobal.edu.

Today's Friday College Feature is on 2 military schools. The expert on this specific niche is really Lisa (Bachman) Rielage, but I will attempt to do my best. When we think of a military school, we usually think of the United States Military Academy at West Point and rightly so. ➡️ The post itself is the oldest continuously occupied regular army post in the United States. ➡️ Thomas Jefferson created the academy. ➡️ The first West Point superintendent actually had no military experience. ➡️ Now, about 10,000 apply to West Point, but only 1,000 are admitted. Another military school is the United States Merchant Marine Academy. ➡️ It began in 1943. ➡️ It now serves as a training center for midshipmen to serve as officers in the United States Merchant Marine, branches of the United States Armed Forces and in the transportation industry. ➡️ It also enrolls about 1,000 undergrads and has a graduation rate of 81%. Are there other schools you would add? #collegesanduniversities #military #education

Today’s chaplains are military professionals specially trained to serve any spiritual need, for military personnel and their families, regardless of religious affiliation, ethnicity, or gender. Nearly 3,000 chaplains from the Army, Navy, and Air Force served in Vietnam, each chaplain with a vastly different experience of the war. I attended this amazing session that provided some valuable (and actionable) insights. It's always good to expand knowledge and pick up new skills. Thanks to Maria Louise and Lauren Dodd for organizing! Appreciate the effort that goes into these learning opportunities. #ProfessionalDevelopment #ContinuousLearning #goarmybeatnavy
Yesterday the teaching librarians of the Naval Academy and West Point came together virtually for our first joint Instruction Day, 2024. It was a fabulous professional development collaboration and we learned a lot from each other. Thanks to my co-organizer Lauren Dodd (USMA)!! We share in a unique mission to train future military leaders and are committed to equip them with the information skills they need to excel. Thanks to all our colleagues who contributed to the day, and to those that presented Lightning Talks. And, as always, GO NAVY! ;)
