Six crisis-hit African countries among neglected regions; Christian aid organizations explains why: 21 Christian humanitarian organizations listed 10 crisis-hit countries that have been neglected by the international community, further risking the lives of over 300 million people facing hunger, displacement and armed conflict. The Christian aid organisations, through the Integral Alliance, have also identified five factors driving neglected crises in these countries, 6 of which are in Africa.

Today, the eighth edition of the Ministerial Conference on "Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region" will take place in Brussels. ❗ On this occasion, we demand that previously promised financial resources finally flow and that a long-term political solution to the conflict is found after 13 years of war and displacement in northwestern Syria. Of the five million people in the northwest, 3.6 million depend on humanitarian aid, mainly food. According to the UN, less than ten percent of humanitarian aid for northwest Syria is currently funded. Jesco Weickert, our Regional Manager for northwest Syria, recently visited a camp for internally displaced people. The refugees there told him that they had been displaced so many times that they finally got together in a group of 100 and used their last savings to buy a piece of land where they had been living for three years. When asked about the future, the leader of the group replied: ‘Just carry on and grow something to eat and hope that somehow there will be a future.' Millions of people are facing another year, and potentially another winter, of suffering and deprivation.
