It’s the beginning of Red Carpet Season in Hollywood, and over the next two months, you will see photos all over social media. With the increasing popularity of social media, photos of celebrities at these events are uploaded in seconds, and everyone suddenly becomes a fashion critic, expressing opinions on what the celebrities are wearing and who they are wearing. But have you ever thought about the effort that goes into making all these style decisions? For those attending these events, it's a night to gather and celebrate the work they've accomplished over the past year. Some people attend such events yearly, while others attend for the first time and want to make a good impression. They want to express their creative side while looking their best; sometimes, creative looks can be unpopular. It’s so easy to be the fashion police as you view these pictures, but how would you feel being on a red carpet with thousands of people judging your every move? At events, celebrities have a team of stylists, and hair and makeup artists to create their looks. Their planning starts months ahead of these events, along with creating skincare and workout routines to look their best for these events. I can’t stress enough that planning is key for these celebrities to look their best. Planning your wardrobe is crucial if you have frequent speaking engagements, book promotions, or important social events. It's recommended that you plan your skin care treatments, stress management, and outfits ahead of time in January so that you have enough time to see the desired results by Spring. To start planning your wardrobe for Spring, take an hour to list down all the events you have scheduled in the next six months. For each event, write down three words that describe how you want to feel. This exercise will help you plan your outfits accordingly. "What did you learn about your fashion and beauty regimens in 2023?" This is a question I pose to my clients at the outset of our style consultations. The aim is to understand what worked and what didn't work concerning their wardrobe for daily and special events. More often than not, we believe that new clothing and makeup will fix everything, but this is rarely the case. Did you allocate enough time to plan your outfits so that you found something amazing and wore it multiple times? Did you purchase things you loved at the right time to save money? Did you make any missteps with your skincare regimen that resulted in a beauty disaster? These are some of the things that I aim to discover during style consultations. My goal is to help my clients envision the image of the new person they are becoming to thrive as leaders. When you start a new role, it's important to embrace the new energy of the person you are becoming. This means learning how to plan your wardrobe and beauty routines so that you look your best for any occasion. For instance, if you get your eyebrows waxed or threaded, you should stop using your retinoids one week before your appointment. If you undergo in-office treatments with a specialist, you should plan these procedures at least 3-6 months before your event. Some treatments require time for recovery and multiple appointments within a specific timeframe. It's important to commit to the schedule without any disruptions. Clients often wait until the day before an event to try on a planned outfit from last season, only to find that it no longer fits. Leading them to go shopping at the last minute and struggle to find something they love. Planning your wardrobe and beauty routines for 2024 will save you time, money, and stress. So you can look fabulous as your career thrives, but you are having fun because your wardrobe is ready for the new you.
