Did you know today, May 2, is National Truffle Day? No, I'm not talking about icky mushrooms, I'm talking about the delicious dessert. A dessert truffle is a type of confection that mimics the shape and, somewhat, the rough exterior of a real truffle fungus, but it is made from chocolate and other flavourings. These sweet truffles are typically made from a mixture of melted chocolate, cream, and butter, which is known as ganache. This ganache is then cooled and formed into small, round balls, which are often coated in cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or chocolate shavings to resemble the earthy appearance of natural truffles. Dessert truffles can come in a variety of flavours and finishes. Additional ingredients like liqueurs, fruit purees, spices, or extracts can be added to the ganache for different tastes, and coatings can vary widely to include things like powdered sugar, sprinkles, or even edible glitter. They are popular as luxurious treats for special occasions or as gifts. I think I might make a trip to a Godiva Chocolatier shop and get some for myself. Iced Matcha Latte Matcha lattes are a delicious, creamy beverage perfect for any time of the day, especially if you're seeking a gentle caffeine lift. This blog post will guide you through making a refreshing iced matcha latte using matcha green tea and almond milk. Ingredients 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder 1 tablespoon hot water 1 cup almond milk, unsweetened Ice cubes Optional: sweetener of your choice (honey, agave syrup, or stevia) Method Prepare the Matcha: Start by sifting your matcha green tea powder into a bowl to avoid lumps. This ensures your latte is smooth and clump-free. Whisk: Add about a tablespoon of hot water (not boiling, as it can make the matcha bitter) to the matcha powder. Whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion until the mixture is frothy. Using a bamboo whisk can enhance the experience and the texture of the matcha. Mix with Almond Milk: Pour your matcha mixture into a glass. Add ice cubes to the glass to cool the mixture. Then, slowly pour in the almond milk.
