Having grown up in the Larry Bird era, at my grandfather’s knee as he watched the TV broadcast of Boston Celtics games with Johnny Most’s radio call popping and fizzing out of his AM radio (the radio call is always better), I am a lifelong Green Bleeder. Even with the Sox and Pats’ success over the past 20+ years, the C’s have always been my favorite hometown team. And while there’s plenty to celebrate any time a team you care about wins a championship, I find myself feeling both notably proud and tangibly inspired by two particular facets of this squad: 1. Their resilience/willingness to learn from past failures, to grow, adapt, and achieve. Especially after last season’s ugly exit and a subsequent roster re-boot. And 2. The construction and composition of this roster, proof that combining players that FIT together, compliment one another, and bring team-oriented intangibles delivers more long-term value, especially in challenging situations, than the “Superstar Stacking/Big Three” approach. They are, in every sense, a true “team”, not unlike their mid-80s forebears. Many lessons to be learned here, personal and professional, to be sure. Which is always an important upside of the occasional absurdity of sports fandom. Bring on the duck boats…again! #teamwork #leadership #softskills #fit #bleedgreen #banner18 #nbafinals

A very distinct relationship exists between former Professional Athletes and the organizations they have helped build. With every generation of athletes comes a better understanding of what they bring to the table outside of pure entertainment for the fans and an increased bottom line for the organizations. With that being said, there is a shift within these athlete's mindsets that longs for far more than just a career on the field, court, ice, or pitch, to name a few. There should be a plan that includes former athletes, for there are many leverageable aspects that will increase fan engagement and the organization's bottom line. #business #professionalathlete #professionaldevelopment #OwnershipReimagined #ACaseForOwnership #73SARE #innovation

The parallels between sports and business are undeniable. Last night, the Celtics closed out a sweep of the Pacers to win the Eastern Championship. Each game was closely contested (game 2 not as much), yet the Celtics prevailed in all of them, showing that being just a little bit better than the competition, can make all the difference. In business, similar to sports, differentiation may not require being light years ahead of the competition; but rather excelling in the small things, learning from past experiences, and staying resilient even in challenging times. Leadership and teamwork were key components of the Celtics' success, with stars and role players alike contributing and encouraging each other throughout. Reflecting on this series, what business and life lessons have you gained from recent sporting events? The connections between sports and business offer valuable insights that can be applied beyond the court. It's Ture...I am biased. I'm rooting for the Celts...and I'm thinking they'll be playing teh Mavs...we'll know more later tonight! who do you think will take home the title? #bostonceltics #nbafinals #businesslessons

Last regular season home game today and we have to stand on business. No fumbling and we have to work as the greatest team in history. This is where true leadership and inspiration collides to leave it all on the field. Team sports are about bringing so many people from different experiences and walks of life together for a common vision and goal. Failing forward no longer becomes an option in these big time showdowns. Execution becomes key. This is where practicing like you play becomes the most important preparation. Lots of life lessons in my experience have come from team sports. Competitiveness is part of the 🧬. This is where we have to believe in the magic sauce. LETS GO DOLPHINS! BEAT these Bills. #teambuilding #sportscience #competition #gameplan #health

Love or hate Boston sports - the Celtics had quite a run and got that long-waited title last night. My favorite part? It was a clear demonstration of how to build a champion team. The MVP wasn't just math - the MVP was a team strategy. 1. Recruit for a collection of skills - not a “rockstar” or MVP. Look holistically at your team - so you get the diversity of talent that can work as a cohesive whole, bringing different strengths to bear and compensating for areas of weakness. 2. Work hard to retain people and grow their skills - as a team. Don’t stay stagnant - your team needs stretch opportunities as a collective and as individual players. Keep them moving. 3. Trust the skills and data - over personalities and headlines. Flashy players are fun to watch on Instagram but numbers don’t lie. Teams beat the individual. https://lnkd.in/gY694pkM

Mastering Pressure in Athletic Performance In the realm of sports, understanding and overcoming the sources of pressure and worry are crucial for maintaining trust in one's abilities. It goes beyond the fear of in-game mistakes to include concerns about letting down teammates or coaches. Identifying these factors is key to adopting a more confident and athletic approach to competition. #PhilJackson #MentalToughness #GameChangerAthletes #LeadershipInSports

Star baseball player Corey Seager reinvents his swing everyday... everyday! "Past results don’t mean anything when it comes to future success." How often do all of us in the agency business (me included) get it in auto-pilot mode and are surprised when things don't work out? The marketing world is anything but static, kinda like hitters vs. pitchers. Maybe we should all try to reinvent ourselves and our agencies just a little bit everyday, rather than trying to swing for the fences when it's too late - when the count is no balls, 2 strikes. (Yea, I like sports analogies. Corny, but they work because great athletes work their butts off when no one is watching to stay one step ahead of the competition and to continue to elevate to new heights.)

THE BEST ABILITY IS AVAILABILITY! Let's talk basketball for a second. If you know me, or are a Philadelphia fan, you understand the scrutiny the 76ers franchise has faced over the last decade but specifically Joel Embiid - center for the sixers since 2014 and reigning MVP - has faced this year as he has missed multiple games and is now out with a torn meniscus. We can talk about true shooting, player efficiency, the eye-test, etc. Still, one concept that reigns true is that the best ability, the one that makes you the most valuable when combined with these advanced stats and accolades, is availability. Be present. Use the full scope of your skills to lift up your team and take every chance there is to add value. After hearing this, it resonated with me as both a personal and professional concept and I thought it simple but impactful to share. Lesson is that skills and talent matter but only when you show up. Have that expectation for yourself and surround yourself with those that have the same for themselves. Rant over - go Sixers! #Talent #skills #ability #availability #teamwork #connorconstruction #commercialconstruction #builttoyourvision #76ers

Insight for today…. Back in 2006, twelve young men from Beaverton Oregon played together on a baseball team that went to the Little League World Series….the pinnacle of youth baseball. The mantra of this team was Dream... Believe... Achieve... I do not recall which parent came up with this motto, but it was a stroke of brilliance. We had this slogan on everything related to the team. The players, coaches and parents lived it in the majority of moments. There may have been something to this way of thinking, believing and acting, as the team made it to the US Finals. (Ultimately, the team tied for 3rd in the world) Pretty impressive for a group of kids from Beaverton Oregon. The glue that made it all work was every player had a role to play, and they believed in themselves, their coaches and the team parents. It was a cohesive effort focused on one outcome….the dream of winning the LLWS. Look what was accomplished with some applied belief. What would happen in your life if you believed in your dream and truly Lived and Loved every moment with Courageous Abandon? Allow yourself to Dream, Believe, Achieve… and you just might find out. #InsightForToday #flatlinerfitness #getyourfitonstayheartstrong #CoachBrad #1stphormathletesearch #bethe1

2nd season with Preston Grasshoppers Women, first half of the first season competing in a league after spending last year rebuilding a team from the ashes. Sport can provide so many different challenges and achievements; before I joined, I was inheriting a team that had achieved a league and cup double, unbeaten! My challenge: how can I continue this success? 5 months in, we had to drop out of the league, we had 5 players average at training and very close to not existing at all having tried our best to seek mergers from other women’s teams locally to no avail. My new challenge: can I keep this team together and rebuild? 12 months in (May 22-May 23) accepted back into the league structure, 30+ players registered and had played 2/3 friendly fixtures, a group of players all showing intent and eagerness to play and get stuck in. 1st half of the season completed and not only have we won games, we did so against some established women’s setups, all those involved have shown intent to become better and improve as a team and shown an amazing bond with some only being with the group for a couple months, and now sitting 3rd at Christmas🎄🥉 Sometimes goals change, and that isn’t always within your control, however, you can make sure that new goals are set and achieved. Even easier when those you work with are willing to fight, support and achieve the goals that will benefit the team! Everything from here on in is extra, and I am excited to see what this team can achieve in the new year! 🟢🔵⚪️🦗 #northerneugbymatters #prestongrasshoppers #womensrugby #coachingdevelopment #alwayslearning #supportingwomen #building #progressnotperfection
