This is so disappointing to see and such a shocking statistic in this current tech market. I have experienced first hand discrimination and the loss of a job, being told to find a role better suited to my circumstance, and as a mother, you're already faced with "mum-guilt" without your employer adding to it and adding to the stress we are all put under. The tech market is facing the worst gender shortage, with the ever growing advancements of AI and other tech, we need a greater gender and ethnic representation and for that to increase we need women and mothers to be backed by all organisations.

Too many communities overlook this, thinking their work speaks for itself. But if you’re not actively making your space inclusive, you’re missing out on diverse voices and innovation. Inclusion, equity, and diversity are at baseline good humanity. It's "hump day". Some see this as the midpoint where the rest of the work week is downhill. But, when you like your job, I think it's a small hill to stand upon and survey the landscape a little. Like many this month, I'm thinking about what makes our company what it is. At its core, our company is a community of people. People, clients included, volunteer to come here every single day. It’s a choice made from a sense of belonging somewhere kind and supportive, and I’m here for it. Podfly is a safe space to think, create, act on whims, take chances, and never feel judged. Mistakes are victories to celebrate, ideas are genius newborns to be nurtured, and carefully planned outcomes are detached from expectation and open to surprise. No matter who you are. I see much negativity around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Some of that may be misplaced. D.E.I. isn't some HR, corporate, slide deck, checkbox afterthought. Or a mandatory webinar fulfilling some C-suite initiative. OK. Maybe in your company, it is. Well, not in mine. In a healthy community, D.E.I. is humans' best chance to survive. In a company, it's our best chance to thrive.
