Transitioning to Part-Time! Experienced Emergency Hazards Analyst Seeks DOE Opportunities (December 2024) Exciting news! In December 2024, I'll be transitioning to a semi-retirement phase, seeking a part-time (approximately 20-30 hours/week or 80-120 hours/month) role to continue using my expertise in emergency management within the Department of Energy (DOE) and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). For the past 25 years, I've served as an Emergency Hazards Analyst, conducting thorough evaluations of DOE site operations and hazardous material inventories at the Pantex Plant. My focus is on: Identifying potential emergencies, particularly those involving hazardous materials. Assessing the extent of danger posed by these emergencies. Developing protocols for emergency recognition to ensure timely response. Defining initial actions to protect people during incidents. Beyond individual site assessments, I've also played a leadership role within the DOE Emergency Management Issues Special Interest Group (EMI SIG). As Chair of the Subcommittee for Technical Analysis and Response Support (STARS), I've mentored and collaborated with emergency preparedness analysts across the DOE Complex. This experience has further honed my skills in: - Technical analysis of emergency hazards. - Developing best practices for hazards assessment, consequence assessment, and response. - Mentoring and fostering collaboration among emergency preparedness professionals. Ideally, I'd find a part-time role that offers a blend of remote work from my home in Amarillo, Texas, and occasional on-site presence at a DOE site or other high-hazard operation. My flexibility allows me to contribute significantly to both aspects of the role. My passion for DOE emergency management remains strong. I'm eager to leverage my experience in a part-time capacity, supporting the continued safety of DOE sites. Additionally, I am a good instructor, and procedure writer. So, if you need an experienced analyst to help your new staff, I will be glad to help in that fashion. Call to Action: Are you a recruiter or hiring manager seeking a seasoned, part-time Emergency Hazards Analyst for a DOE site or other high-hazard operation? I'm open to both remote and on-site work arrangements. I'd love to hear from you! Feel free to reach out and connect to discuss potential opportunities starting December 2024. Additionally, please share this post with anyone in your network who might benefit from connecting with a part-time emergency preparedness expert! #DOE #NNSA #EmergencyPreparedness #EmergencyManagement #HazardsAnalyst #EMISIG #STARS #RemoteWork #OnSite #EmergencyPlanningHazardsAssessment #EPHA #EAL #EmergencyActionLevels #ConsequenceAssessment #ExerciseEvaluator #HazMat #HazardousMaterials #151.1D #151.1E #AllHazardsSurvey #ProtectiveActions #CertifiedProcedureWriter #QualifiedAssessmentLeader
