I learned Planning from the ground up. My first deployments were key in my ability to understand and apply these concepts. They're not as complicated as they seem, but they are a system and it requires training, even when customization comes into play. Learn the basics, practice the basics, and stay flexible. Flexibility and smooth transitions will always be paramount. Train so you can fight. You never know when you will need to fight.

“The Department has realized significant benefits from privatization in the case of family housing. 99% of US-based family housing is privatized under the Military Housing Privatization Initiatve (MHPI). After an initial series of reforms focused on strengthening DoD oversight and tenant rights, these privatization projects have yielded consistently higher quality assets on shorter construction and delivery timelines resulting in higher user satisfaction.” While “Privatization” has always struck me as an unfortunate word choice, since the Corvias MHPI portfolio was established through Public-Private Partnerships in which we and the military service branch are legal partners (not outsourcing via privatization), it is nonetheless rewarding to see DoD acknowledge the success of the MHPI program over the past 20+ years. It is also great to see that we are in complete alignment with DoD’s RHDC Strategy, as we and our strategic venture partners continue to develop and implement resiliency and health-focused solutions including renewable energy, energy savings performance, energy storage, and heathy/smart building indoor environment enhancements.

SUCCESS STORY! Department of Defense Mentor-Protégé Agreement between LA APEX clients Highlighted by Ms. Arveice Washington, Department of Navy OSBP Director. Ms. Arveice Washington, Director of the Department of Navy Office of Small Business Programs, highlighted a recent success story involving a Mentor-Protégé agreement between two LA APEX clients. The agreement was established between Hornbeck Offshore Operators, a large prime contractor, and Next Generation Logistics (NGL), a protégé company. NGL has been a LA APEX client since October 2015. Colleen Broussard-Perry, LA APEX Senior Counselor provided critical support to NGL, including an in-depth explanation of FAR Part 16, review of their Mentor-Protégé Program (MPP) submittal, and other requirements set by the Department of Navy. Hornbeck Offshore Operators, a client since November 2013, had been guided by LA APEX in finding quality subcontractors for Navy ship projects. Cindy Carrier, LA APEX Program Manager assisted Hornbeck in locating specific socio-economic subcontractors and supported their participation in various LA APEX Procurement Conferences and matchmaking events. The collaboration reached a milestone when NGL, an 8(a) certified company based in New Orleans, was identified as a key logistics provider for Hornbeck and the Navy. This partnership led to the successful establishment of the DoD Mentor-Protégé agreement. Through LA APEX ongoing support, both Hornbeck and NGL have made significant strides in their respective fields, demonstrating the effectiveness of the DpD Mentor-Protégé program and the value of strategic partnerships. #laapex #SmallBusiness #governmentcontracting
