EVENT REMINDER: InSAR and Earth Observation Techniques for Infrastructure Asset Management > When: 20 November 2023 | 18:00 - 19:30hrs > Where: ICE, Westminster Dr. Skevi Perdikou, Geofem and Dr Philippa Mason, Imperial College, will present a lecture regarding the new CIRIA guide an essential introduction to both Earth Observation and InSAR techniques, for anyone working in infrastructure. Also, at this event, some of the latest developments in geohazard assessment using earth observation and Artificial Intelligence will be presented. The use of satellite derived information combined with geotechnical knowledge enable susceptibility assessments to geohazards, regularly updated, incorporating climate change impacts on infrastructure assets. *To attend this FREE event in person, no registration is required. *To attend online, please register here - https://lnkd.in/eSTPTD4u #event #BGA #ICE #infrastructure #geotechics #geohazards #earthobservation #assetmanagement

Local ground motion simulation using Salvus! https://lnkd.in/eqiYHivK Ground motion modeling is an extremely valuable tool for estimating local shaking intensity and identifying areas most at risk from seismic events. However, the point source earthquake approximation often used for distant events is generally not representative of ruptures on large, nearby fault planes. The Standard Rupture Format (SRF) (Graves, 2014) was developed to define complex seismic sources on fault planes, giving a more accurate representation of the fault rupture. In this case study, we demonstrate the loading of an SRF file directly into Salvus, and the resulting simulation of ground motion through time, accounting for the influence of local topography. See the case study on our website for further details! This work was carried out with Marisol Monterrubio Velasco, Josep de la Puente, Marta P. and others as part of the DT-GEO project.
