We dove deep into the data to uncover the top 5 cities that raked in the highest profits in 2016. By meticulously filtering our dataset and grouping the results by city, we discovered some truly captivating insights: 1. New York City led the pack with an impressive profit of $12,354.27. 2. Los Angeles followed closely with $9,115.64 in profits. 3. Lafayette secured the third spot with $8,789.82. 4. Detroit earned a solid $7,385.83 in profits. 5. Providence rounded out the top five with $4,205.20. To make these insights even more digestible, we visualized the data using a bar diagram, clearly highlighting New York City's dominant profit figures. The Research and Analytics team(my team and coworkers) at the ARC just released the new Socioeconomic 2050 Forecasts for the Atlanta region! $168 billion in federal, state, and local funding are allocated by these projections that feed the Metropolitan Transportation Plan models. Definitely check them out if you need some future data touch points in population, race, employment, etc. to plan for your locale. This was a ton of work handled by our forecasting team. Some ways to check the projections out include.... Our 33n blog for the data! (my preferred way as a data nerd) Jim Skinner has posted the data details on the 33n blog and his LinkedIn if you want to dive in to dashboards and reports - https://lnkd.in/e8x2KhUb Some Media Highlights: AJC- growth in diversity, old, and Hispanic and Latino boom- https://lnkd.in/eQrwFqCH Atlanta Business Chronicle - add 1.8 million to be a 8 million in 2050 - https://lnkd.in/epuWvCyy Bravo Wei Wang, AICP, Matthew Reeves, Audrey Carroll, Mike Carnathan, Jim Skinner, and Moshe Haspel along with the tons of other people who have contributed along the way! #Future #policy #economy #cityplanning #data

There is a rich tradition of ‘This is [insert geography]’ reports. Ideally PDFs, these earnest tomes demonstrate a commitment to data with more tables than you can shake a stick at. Perhaps they even include a 3D pie chart or two… I’m not a huge fan of the ‘lots of graphs with text explaining the graphs in words’ type of analysis. For one thing it isn’t really analysis. To that end, this deliberately avoids that and looks to paint a picture rather than present data points. There’s value in turning data into insight and there’s more value still in turning insight into work that makes a difference. Too often we get only part of the way along that route. How, then, to make a difference? The State of the Borough doesn’t provide answers as such - it’s more a leaping off point for future thinking and a contribution to a wider endeavour where it combines with citizens’ perspectives, professional judgment, and performance and business data. With those different sources of insight, we put ourselves in the best possible position to do purposeful stuff. Whetting appetites and encouraging curiosity, and engaging with the evidence is, whisper it, so much more important than the data alone. Of course, you might simply be interested in the story of life in a west London borough. Or perhaps you like a decent interactive dashboard. Alternatively, you might be grappling with wicked issues that, extending far beyond your control, need you to think about how you consider place rather than organisation. Anyway, I think this is worth a few minutes of your time. Why not take a look and see what we - Alfie Barrishi, Vid Calovski, Simi Cherian, Michael Everard, Simon Hayes, Taru Jaroszynski, Tarmini Mootoosamy, Yusuf Patel, Kasthuri Yasmin Raveendran, and Lucy Sullivan-Allsop - have been up to recently?

🍂 A beautiful fall day calls for a data-driven adventure! 🍂 Today, I took my Data Storytelling class out for a field trip to Green Street—one of our campus’s busiest arteries. Students are observing, photographing, and noting traffic patterns. Why? To create a data-driven community story. 🚶♂️🚗 Their task: To gather evidence and make an argument—should Green Street become a pedestrian corridor? 🛣️👣 By combining on-the-ground observations with data, they’ll make their case to demonstrate how data could be used to inform decision-making for community and local legislators. This is how we bring the power of data and storytelling to life! 💡 #DataStorytelling #CommunityImpact #GreenStreet #HigherEd #FallVibes #AiInsights
