Today is #NationalRescueDog Day, the day we celebrate all things related to dog rescues, their hard-working staff members and the dog-lovers who support these rescues. The #virbacpack is committed to support those critical activities at the best of our abilities. There are many ways you can help celebrate #NationaRescueDog Day. Here are a few suggestions: - Nominate your favorite animal charity and they could receive $2,500. @virbac, As part of our ongoing #EveryPetProject, we conduct random drawings and reward two animal charities a month with $2,500, all to help them make an even bigger difference in the lives of pets in their care. Follow this link for more info- https://lnkd.in/erkDtPp8 - If you have the resources, consider rescuing a dog from a local animal shelter. Rescue dogs can prove to be great friends and companions for those young and old. - Get your four-legged friends spayed or neutered to help combat overpopulation. More than three million dogs enter shelters every year, many due to overpopulation. - Volunteer at your favorite shelter or at another animal healthcare facility. As they can’t afford to pay employees, many rescues and shelters depend on volunteers. - Make a donation to your local rescue. Most rescues depend on donations to help pay for medical expenses, food, and room and board. No donation is too small. Every little bit helps! Let’s make an impact #together

Did you know pet owners have a higher than average propensity to leave charitable bequests in their wills? This generosity, combined with the way responsible pet owners tend to use estate plans to care for their pets when they pass away, means that animal organizations are uniquely positioned to help their supporters while securing legacy gifts. PM Environmental, appreciates those who help our four-legged friends in need find their forever homes. MICHIGAN ANTI CRUELTY SOCIETY (MACS) is the last OPEN ADMISSION animal shelter in the City of Detroit. From healthy and cute to abandoned and starving, MACS remains committed to providing every animal with the best possible treatment. They are aware of the tragedies that befall discarded animals on the street and for many MACS is their only hope and often their last refuge. For more than 65 years they have made it their mission to care for all the animals regardless of their community’s social status. Although they welcome donations from those who are able, payment is never required for an animal brought in by one of their rescue vehicles or taken in through the shelter doors. Whether it’s an owner turn-in or a stray, no animal is ever turned away. Donations and volunteering are essential in providing thousands of strays, injured and unwanted animals a safe haven and a second chance for a better life. All of MACS board members are experienced hands-on animal care givers. Providing donated pet food to those unable to afford it, Free straw, and dog houses, low-cost veterinary services and many free spay and neuter procedures, free tethers for those who keep their dogs outdoors and education about the new City of Detroit ordinance regarding the care of companion animals. providing free euthanasia services to those whose animals are sick, dying, or in distress. On average, MACS transfers over 200 animals to vetted rescue groups and have adopt out almost 400 others to their forever home. MACS continues to network, hold adoption events, and make new contacts daily to vastly increase the number of animals to find their forever homes. Many ordinary Australians are taking a growing interest in making informed choices, particularly when it comes to the charities they support financially. Most share an eagerness to support human health as well as animal interests. Balancing these concerns can be difficult because many popular health charities fund animal research, often without making it clear to the public. The Humane Charities List is a guide to health-related charities that do not engage in animal research. By donating to a Humane Charity on the list, you will be directing vital funding towards organisations that do not fund animal testing. https://lnkd.in/gCZm-Pc4

Animal Welfare Professional | Experienced in Social Media, Public Relations, and Community Outreach | Bachelor of Science in Animal Science (Pre-Veterinary)
Managing a large social media platform requires not only engaging with the public but also guiding them to the right resources. While managing TikTok and Instagram, I monitored comments and messages daily, addressing numerous inquiries about how to donate or support our organization. To streamline this, I created a LinkTree to provide structured guidance. Although social media management was not part of my job description as an Animal Control Officer, I recognized a gap in our outreach efforts. I found time in my busy schedule to create a company Instagram page. I utilized the platform to raise awareness by showcasing our services, providing educational resources, featuring adoptable animals, promoting upcoming events, and encouraging donations. The page quickly gained traction, and I was soon asked by management to create more promotional posts for the company. 🐾 I created the post below urging the community to donate blankets for shelter dogs. The response was overwhelming, with thousands of blankets donated—so many that our storage unit was overflowing. This success highlights the power of effective social media and community outreach. Thanks to these efforts, the shelter dogs enjoyed greater comfort, and the community united with a sense of purpose. This initiative improved the dogs' living conditions and strengthened our engagement and connection with the local community. #AnimalWelfare #CommunityEngagement #SocialMediaImpact #CommunityOutreach #NonprofitSupport #PublicRelations #AdvocacyInAction #CollaborativeSuccess

Last year, our country needlessly euthanized over 400,000 adoptable dogs and cats in shelters. Additionally, over 900,000 pets are lingering in shelters and rescues waiting for their fate. With an uptick in intake and a downward trend in adoptions, especially for medium and large dogs, our nation's shelters and rescues are struggling. Including us. But there's hope. New data suggests that if just 6% of people intending to add a pet to their home this year choose to adopt instead of shop, we can completely eliminate needless euthanasia. So we need you. To adopt, to foster, to volunteer, to donate, to spread the word. Whatever you can do, help us close that gap. Help us save them -> onetail.org Data credit: Best Friends Animal Society
