The 90 day federal grants freeze will be devastating to many of us in the arts and culture sector, but the chaos is the point. I heard some grounding advice on Krista Kurlinkus, Ph.D.'s Zoom discussion this morning: 1. Take a deep breath and try to move past fear and into problem-solving. 2. Write down all the ways that federal grants impact your organization: how they specifically make exhibitions, arts education programs, or collections work possible, and how those activities have a measurable impact in your community. 3. Reach out and talk about this impact with your donors, stakeholders, and foundation funders. Work towards strengthening those relationships. 4. Edited to add: file for reimbursement of expended funds and commitments today. Every day brings new information, and this onslaught is intended to instill fear and fatigue. I'm here for anyone who needs help moving into problem-solving mode.

🚨 Members: take our short survey 🚨 As we continue to hear from our members about increased demand on open grant rounds, we’d like to get under the skin of these headlines and understand how funders are reacting to changes in the sector. Furthermore, we would like to understand how funders might be adapting to help manage demand. We already know that civil society spends an estimated £900m on fundraising each year: nobody wants to see this level of resource being spent on applying for funds, especially if increased competition makes a positive outcome less likely. Over the next few months we will be bringing together funders to understand how applications and demand from funded organisations is changing and effective strategies to adapt to this. To help facilitate this, we’re asking members to answer this quick survey, so we can better understand the current situation, and what’s on the horizon. Any practical examples you’re able to share will be collated and shared back out with our networks. Please take a look and share what you can by 8th November. Link to survey: https://lnkd.in/e-dxGWPi
