“It’s a really great place to be a police officer.”
Officer Mueller has always felt supported as a St. Peters police officer ... by our community, by his fellow police officers, by the Chief of Police, all the way up to the City Administrator.
He started his police career in the U.S. Army 28 years ago: “Initially, I did regular police work, I just wore camouflage.”
Then, Officer Mueller found a home in the St. Peters Police Department’s Ranger Division. He feels overwhelming support from the community and loves talking with our residents while he's on patrol in our City parks and trails.

In this lecture, Prof. Shapiro discusses the privatization of two core government functions, providing military and prisons. He talks about host nation trucking in Afghanistan and provides background on the emergence of U.S. private prisons before he draws useful comparisons between the military and prison industries on how we should think about the consequences of privatization in both areas.

Why ex-military personnel should consider a role within policing:
1. Veterans Possess a High Level of Discipline, Integrity and Responsibility.
There is great pride in doing your job in the military and doing it to the best of your ability. Service members enjoy a community of shared values; likewise, many in law enforcement do, too. It's easy to draw the lines of comparison between military service and law enforcement when it comes to maintaining a high degree of discipline, integrity and personal responsibility.
2. Teamwork.
Military veterans are not only trained to contribute to a team in order to thrive, but they also learn that they have to count on a team to survive. Likewise, police officers rely on each other to keep themselves and the public safe.
3. Critical Thinking, Especially During High-Stress Situations.
As in the military, police officers require a high degree of critical thinking skills, including during high-stress scenarios. The military does a good job at training personnel to think and act quickly during life-or-death situations.
4. A Community of Shared Values
As with the criminal justice system, most people join the military to be a part of something larger than themselves, to give back, and to help others.
5. A Desire to Serve Others
Ask any service member you know why they joined the military. Chances are that part of their answer would include the fact that they wanted to serve others and make a difference. The same could be said of police officers.

The indictment of Pete Arredondo, former #Uvalde police chief, and the past indictment of Scot Peterson, former #Parkdale school resource officer, for not rushing into the line of fire during active school shootings, raises critical questions about #liability.
In the military, soldiers are subject to #UnlimitedLiability —they can be legally ordered to risk their lives, even unto death. This concept is ingrained in military duty and expectations. Should the same apply to police officers?

MPs are those people that give out speeding tickets, right? Well perhaps, but there's also a lot more capability they can provide. Dominic Dawes is here with an accessible but comprehensive overview of the roles and functions of military police in land combat operations with his three-part series 'The Manoeuvrist's Guide to Military Police'. Start expanding your understanding of this capability today with Part 1 - Internment and Detention Operations

Hello, women and men throughout the world.
Are we all at fault?
The end of apartheid, exclusion, and racist disposition depends on a multitude of factors including societal attitudes, political will, legislative changes, and grassroots activism. It's challenging to predict an exact timeline for when these issues will be fully resolved, as progress can vary significantly depending on the context and region.
However, history has shown that significant strides toward ending apartheid, exclusion, and racism have been made through various means such as:
Legislative Changes: Governments can enact laws and policies aimed at promoting equality and combating discrimination. For example, South Africa officially abolished apartheid through the dismantling of apartheid laws and the establishment of a democratic system in the early 1990s.
Social Movements: Grassroots movements and activism play a crucial role in raising awareness, mobilizing communities, and pressuring governments and institutions to address systemic injustices. Movements like the Civil Rights Movement in the United States and the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa have brought about significant change.
Education and Awareness: Education about the history and consequences of racism and discrimination is essential in changing societal attitudes and behaviors. Promoting empathy, understanding, and inclusivity can help break down barriers and foster a more tolerant society.
Economic Empowerment: Economic disparities often intersect with racial discrimination. Initiatives aimed at promoting economic opportunities for marginalized communities can help address systemic inequalities.
International Pressure: International condemnation and pressure can also influence governments and institutions to address issues of apartheid, exclusion, and racism. Sanctions, diplomatic efforts, and global solidarity movements can amplify the voices of those fighting for equality.
My take:
Very little progress has been made mainly because this sickness stronger than a virus has impregnated deep in the minds of Homosapiens in many parts of the world.
The main factor against the elimination of the breed (apartheid, exclusion, and racism) remains alive. Thus, It requires continued effort, vigilance, and collaboration across sectors to create a more just and inclusive society for all.
One last assertion, the term "Homo Sapien" is the scientific name for modern humans, the species to which 'All Contemporary Human Beings Belong'. The term "Homo sapiens" is Latin for "wise man" or "knowing man," reflecting the cognitive abilities and intellectual capacity that distinguish humans from other species. Homo sapiens emerged in Africa around 300,000 years ago and have since spread and diversified across the globe, becoming the dominant species on Earth.
