To celebrate #blackhistorymonth, we were honored to host local artist and teacher Vernal Michele Pope at our school today. We "approached art like a child", painting our own masterpieces while exploring her wonderful collection "Mantles and Messengers". As Ms. Pope related, "creativity unlocks purpose" and we are so grateful to her for sharing her talents with us. #FuturesGrowHere

Beginning a disciplined practice on painting and resin allows me to create depth, dimension, and glossy reflections on the surface in "Cheska's Secrets." It was the product of my quarantine in 2020, helping me strengthen my talent in sculpture and subsequently develop my collection 'Looking for Signal Inside Yourself.' My art explores various techniques and integrates diverse materials, showcasing proficiency across multiple mediums. Join me on this artistic journey where every stroke reveals secrets and prompts contemplation on the challenges in my life. It's a humorous way for me to express myself using comics and fictional characters. https://lnkd.in/eVREGejG

His use of color is always impressive.
It's Edward Hopper's birthday! The beloved American artist was born on this day in 1882. Although Hopper drew and painted numerous self-portraits in his early years as an artist, this is one of the few he completed during the mature phase of his career. Dressed in suit and tie, Hopper gives no indication of his profession; he even appears as the antithesis of the stereotypical bohemian artist. Though the background nondescript, Hopper's hat suggests that he may be on his way somewhere else. Like so many of the people he portrayed on trains, and in hotels and waiting rooms, Hopper is captured in a contemplative, mysterious moment. — Edward Hopper, (Self-Portrait), 1925–1930.
