📢📢Today, we had our kick-off for Stage 2! ▶️Simone Pies, Business and Impact Investor, was in charge of launching this new stage, which will focus on investment, scalability, internationalization, and investment readiness. ▶️During the panel titled "Ready for Investors? What It Takes to Get There!", Simone explained what investors are looking for in startups: from market potential and scalability to team strength. Of course, they also analyze product fit, traction, and financial data. ▶️However, to know which investor to approach, you need to understand them: ✅Angel Investors: FFF funding rounds, early stage. They involve more risk, smaller amounts, and typically equity. ✅After angels: Series A. Involves less risk, higher amounts, and equity. ✅Companies & complementary industries: They provide resources, technology, market access, and scaling opportunities. ✅Private equity: They look for mature companies and focus on profitability and long-term growth. ✅Crowdfunding: Early stage, does not involve equity. ✅Government loan: Any stage, no equity involved. 🎙️Additionally, Simone gave us some advice on how to identify the investors we need: “It’s important to know what type of investor you’re dealing with and to research them thoroughly, using tools like LinkedIn to gather more information. Keeping your LinkedIn profile up to date is crucial for this. Additionally, factors like the industry sector and geography are key. Alignment in vision, values, and company culture is equally important for a successful partnership”. Thank you very much, Simone, for sharing your insights! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 #CleanTech #Startups #UPM #growth #sustainability #cleancities #smartcities #investors ClimAccelerator Climate-KIC EIT Climate-KIC Spain Universidad Politécnica de Madrid

Here are some of my favourite takeaways: ↪ Over 10k #founders come from the region's best unis! ↪ 88% of #VC #investment has gone into startups in the Western & Central Danube regions. ↪ The region has produced 18 #unicorns 🦄 ↪ The region needs a strong & supportive #innovation #ecosystem ↪ Early-stage #investing is steadily on the rise but there is a scarcity of #scaling-up opportunities I am curious, what do you see as strengths & weaknesses in #CEE? What is a reverse pitch? Industry partnerships are crucial to supporting startups. They can be first customers and early adopters of emerging technology and services. They can also be important collaborators in making sure an innovation meets a market need and has a clear commercialization pathway. One way to make sure innovators and startups are getting connected to those industry partners and priorities is through a reverse pitch event. It's an opportunity for partners from that sector (government, private business, or other established organizations and experts) to lay out their needs, technology, or projects they are developing, and their wish list for solutions that could come from or developed with startups. Grid Catalyst hosted a cleantech reverse pitch on March 20 with Bill Weber (3M), Al Innes (Minnesota Pollution Control Agency), Jeremy Lenz (national water and technology expert), Ellie Rabine (City of St. Louis Park), and Richard Graves, FAIA (Center for Sustainable Building Research/University of Minnesota). They laid out the priorities for their sectors and organizations and connected with founders at the event.
