The Olympics is the biggest international event in the world – it’s an opportunity for nations to make their mark and demonstrate their brilliance. But there have been a few PR errors from the Parisian organisers. For example, if you are hosting the Olympic Opening Ceremony, you should make sure to get the names of the countries you are hosting correct, for starters. And make sure you don’t insult anyone religious. Events are a very useful PR tool, but there needs to be adequate preparation for it to all go smoothly. Make your event relevant, make it useful, make it entertaining, and respect your guests. https://lnkd.in/eTwVtNRU

The impact of events must never go understated. They are challenging to execute, but once done correctly you can amass immense value. It is a common misconception that Public Relations and Communications is a cost centre. On the contrary, we are an investment unit within any organization. Allow me to explain... Earned Media Value (EMV) is a metric used in public relations and marketing to quantify the value of publicity gained through non-paid, organic means, such as media coverage, social media mentions, and word-of-mouth. It represents the equivalent cost if the same amount of exposure were to be achieved through paid advertising. EMV=(Reach×Engagement Rate×Sentiment Factor)×CPM Applying this equation based on the maximum estimated values from each of the media platforms that the event was featured, I would have earned media coverage at a value of $363,453.75 TTD- This figure may seem astronomical, but if we were to pay for the type of coverage, this would have been the indicative value. To get the media to see your event as an important milestone, you have to orchestrate the event in the same manner. Take a look at some of the photos where Circle the Date Events (Sonia) would have worked her magic to ensure that we impress upon our media partners that this launch was important to us as well as to the people of Trinidad and Tobago. #Events #Communcations #PublicRelations #EMV #EarnedMediaValue #Investments #RelationshipBuilding #Decor #Impress

This week brought to you by the letter C... Cannes & Collision Events are happening now and our LinkedIn feed is flooded with amazing companies doing fantastic things. But ... Our industry is in jeopardy. While people are sipping champagne in Cannes watching Lenny Kravitz perform at the Hotel du Cap-Eden Roc, cutback after cutback continues at an accelerated rate in the media business. In a recent Canadian Marketing Association Media Council session Scott Stewart and Penny Hicks shared some startling Canadian stats from the media vendor side of our business. Along with these stats they posed some poignant questions that led to vigorous discussion. Two of the questions: - What does the road ahead look like for Canadian media buyers and sellers for next a) 12 months b) 3 years c) 5 years - Why should the Canadian Marketing community care? What mechanism could we put in place whereby media investment contributes to a healthy Canadian media ecosystem. Important to note this POV does not even include the recent round of restructuring on the agency side. We need to do a better job working together, collaborating so all boats rise. #achievemore #canadianmedia #collaboration

Many top live broadcasters provide guests with a list of tips for going live — info such as lighting tips and camera angles and reminders to wear headphones to eliminate sound feedback.
