I have just finished watching the Brawn GP documentary on Disney +… I know I’m late but it’s definitely worth a watch if you haven’t already seen it! As well as the getting the perspectives and explanations from key players and competitors, interestingly there are multiple interview segments with Nicola Armstrong, who was the communications manager for Brawn GP. With such a ‘fairytale’ rise to the top, the only team to win both the constructors and driver’s championship in their first season, they faced a lot of challenges behind the scenes. Image and reputation management were (in my opinion!) vital to this success and its a very interesting angle that a lot of documentaries don’t cover. Without a certain image, for instance, other teams may not have been so generous at the start of Brawn GP’s F1 season. This could have taken the story in a completely different direction! With Brawn’s win being such an unlikely event, we may never see another occurrence like this in F1 again… so this documentary into the specifics of how and why it occurred is fascinating. #motorsport #BrawnGP #communications #F1

I saw this double page spread in StandOut Multimedia magazine today, showcasing Ragley Hall, Park and Gardens, and namely The Game Fair - a mammoth undertaking from a logistical standpoint alone. I am unsurprised it was 125,000 cars parked over the course of the event, and suspect that is perhaps a conservative number! The event is vast with various, highly finished activations occuring from the likes of FAIRFAX & FAVOR, Alfa Romeo and one of the flagships last year being INEOS Automotive (I never did find the time for a test drive though... 🥲) However, the ad forgot one critical point (in my opinion at least)... There was a fully featured helipad in operation throughout the event, operated by Helipad Events - where I spent most of my time providing fire cover, marhsalling aircraft or maintaining the integrity of the helipad by ensuring it was clear of derbis or incursions (you'd be surprised the amount of people who just wander onto a helipad despite movements ongoing). I will certainly agree though, Ragley Hall is an epic venue for events and certainly somewhere you should consider if you need vast, open space in a picturesque location. Of course if you want to accept helicopters into an event this season, let Nick Cox and the Team at Helipad know! Two very different campaigns, with very similar marketing objectives, uniting with a common goal in a one-off partnership. 👨👨👧👦 - Target Audiences Both Quins and 20th Century Studios will be targeting the same audience to a) attend their flagship summer rugby match and b) watch the new Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes movie. 🗓️ - Campaign Timeline With Harlequins’ “Big Summer Kick Off” matchday taking place on Saturday 27th April, and 20th Century Studios’ release of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes releasing on 9th May - both parties are speaking to the same audience at the same time - why not combine and double the efforts? 🤝🏼 - Brand Parallels The “Together Strong” slogan, combined with the movie storyline draws great parallels of those of a rugby team. Team cohesion, physicality and pride are just some of the consistent brand values that can be leveraged in market activation. 🤩 - Disruptive Content The digital marketing world is fiercely competitive and everybody is fighting for visibility. This partnership has the ability to disrupt and cut through if executed effectively.
