During this year's #UNGA78, I had the chance to attend the Re:solve Global Health/ Dalberg Media/ The Case for Her/ Taskforce on Women and NCDs event -- ‘Roundtable on Accelerating Equitable Digital Innovations for Women’s Reproductive Health.' Held at the American Heart Association's New York offices, the event convened a probing conversation between innovators, funders, and policymakers. The goal was to foster collaborations between leaders from disparate disciplines to discuss digital health solutions for the reproductive and sexual health of women and girls around the world. A significant issue connecting the various discussions during the day centered on equity. How can digital solutions advance health equity around the world and augment existing health delivery systems? Big thank you to speakers Lindsey Taylor Wood, founder of The Helm, Siddhartha Goyal, CEO and co-founder of Nivi, Inc., Dr Olivia Velez, PhD MS MPH RN, chief digital health officer at IntraHealth International, Dr. Genevieve Tam, co-founder and chief operating officer of Vitala Global Foundation, and Dr Stephanie Williams, Australia’s Ambassador for Regional Health Security at the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Also, a shoutout to attendee Indrani Goradia, founder of Raft Cares, for sharing her thoughts with me on the day and why it's important we discuss gender-based and domestic violence whenever we have conversations around needed global women's health interventions. How did we transform from abortion clinic to reproductive health provider? Here’s a little snippet.
This has been a hard, hard journey as we transform and it’s no where near done, but every day we know it has been worth it at our clinic. https://lnkd.in/e-EnPnsZ

As doulas we don't speak for our clients. We support and equip our clients to speak for themselves. This is at the heart of advocacy. Doulas can't be in every room or at every appointment. That is why we are so passionate about ensuring parents and communities have the confidence and courage to self-advocate in healthcare environments. #Communication is critical to self-advocacy. Cultivating this skill helps us take and receive better care. Check out this SLICEca article by Tracey Moore sharing tips we co-cosign like: ✨ Dismantle the belief that you must only be strong and well ✨ Prioritize finding a healthcare provider who is the 3Cs: compassionate, confident, and competent ✨ Write out your health story before engaging with doctors https://lnkd.in/dBVZAw2y

Posted @withregram • @drnighatarif What is happening at The Health Collective and why we need you ?🫵 Too many times we hear about the barriers that marginalised communities face when it comes to Womens Health. I attended a Parliamentary Event in partnership with @dawnbutlerbrent @blackwomenrisinguk and it was moving and at times difficult to hear what Black Women face when it comes to getting basic care when it comes to #Breastcancer. Simple things such as providing different skin tone breast softies for women who have gone through a mastectomy means we are partway there so they feel seen and heard but more needs to be done to tackle that fact that 40% of Black Women die from their Breast Cancer compared to White Women. The Health Collective is mapping all the grassroots organisations so that we are NOT working in silos, we know where and what community they work with, how they deliver care by building trust amongst their own community. This allows us to work with organisations for research, understanding culture nuances and in the future help with the clinical pathways for the Women’s Health Strategy This is where we need you- please share, and if you would like to join please email nighat@wellbeingofwomen.org.uk. Together let’s making a meaningful change for our communities by making sure we are seen and heard when it comes to policies for EQUITY of healthcare #thehealthcollective #womenshealth #equityofcare

#RecommendedReading: As we celebrate Juneteenth, the day marking the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, let's also focus on the ongoing fight for true equality and justice. ALPS is committed to addressing the disproportionate impact of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) on people of color through early detection and team-based care. "There is a pressing need to shed light on this often-ignored problem, especially in people of color," said our founding president, David Armstrong. "PAD can lead to severe complications, such as amputations and increased mortality, if not diagnosed and treated appropriately. Sadly, it is most prevalent among underserved communities. [...] In battling PAD, it's critical that we employ a 'team sport' mentality. The implementation of multidisciplinary teams — comprising vascular surgeons and interventionalists, podiatrists, endocrinologists, wound care specialists, and others — is a proven strategy to mitigate the risks and offer comprehensive care to patients." Discover more insights from Dr. Armstrong here: https://lnkd.in/gM9kiJxk On this Juneteenth, let’s continue to strive towards eliminating health disparities in our communities. Together, we can ensure everyone, regardless of race or ethnicity, has access to quality healthcare and the opportunity to live a healthy, vibrant life! #Juneteenth #HealthEquity #Equality #PADDisparities #PADAwareness #EquityInAction #ActAgainstAmputation #LimbPreservation #PeripheralArteryDisease David Armstrong, Georgia Krehbiel, MBA, Brian D.
