During this year's #UNGA78, I had the chance to attend the Re:solve Global Health/ Dalberg Media/ The Case for Her/ Taskforce on Women and NCDs event -- ‘Roundtable on Accelerating Equitable Digital Innovations for Women’s Reproductive Health.' Held at the American Heart Association's New York offices, the event convened a probing conversation between innovators, funders, and policymakers. The goal was to foster collaborations between leaders from disparate disciplines to discuss digital health solutions for the reproductive and sexual health of women and girls around the world. A significant issue connecting the various discussions during the day centered on equity. How can digital solutions advance health equity around the world and augment existing health delivery systems? Big thank you to speakers Lindsey Taylor Wood, founder of The Helm, Siddhartha Goyal, CEO and co-founder of Nivi, Inc., Dr Olivia Velez, PhD MS MPH RN, chief digital health officer at IntraHealth International, Dr. Genevieve Tam, co-founder and chief operating officer of Vitala Global Foundation, and Dr Stephanie Williams, Australia’s Ambassador for Regional Health Security at the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Also, a shoutout to attendee Indrani Goradia, founder of Raft Cares, for sharing her thoughts with me on the day and why it's important we discuss gender-based and domestic violence whenever we have conversations around needed global women's health interventions. As digital platforms increasingly become a primary source of information for women regarding their intimate health issues, Bayer Philippines took a proactive step by participating in the SheSlays forum, organized by the Philippine Star during International Women's Month on March 19, 2024. This collaboration aimed to create safer online environment and counteract the spread of misinformation. Dr. Cialuj Agbayani-Cruz, an OB-GYN and fellow of the Philippine Society of Reproductive Medicine, spoke out about the need to educate and raise awareness on different women's health topics across social media to fight misinformation and myths that continue to persist. By addressing the persistence of myths and misinformation online, Dr. Agbayani-Cruz underscored the importance of recognizing the individuality of each woman's health concerns and the necessity for personalized medical consultations. This initiative highlights the #BayerForHer commitment to enhancing informed decision-making among women about their health by leveraging digital platforms for effective communication and education. #TeamBayer #ConversationsOfCare #HealthForAll

Driving Global Health Equity & Access: Bridging Data, Communities, and Partnerships for Positive Impact | With a Heart in the Amazon Forest 🌳
Thrilled to share the insights from this morning’s Devex session “All In: Sustainable Approaches to Improve Maternal Health and Achieve UHC through strategic private sector collaborations” Maternal mortality, a pressing global concern, underscores the urgent need for action. Data, our potent ally, unveils disparities that often go unseen behind averages. Shockingly, even in New York, black women face a staggering 9-fold higher risk of #maternalmortality compared to non-black women. This is a stark reminder of the multifaceted challenge at hand - one that calls for a holistic, multi-sectoral approach to ensure women's safety during pregnancy and childbirth. Dr. Jarbas Barbosa, Director of PAHO, eloquently emphasized the key role of collaboration between the private and public sectors in addressing this issue. His words resonate with me: "Maternal mortality reflects access to care and the strength of our healthcare system. While COVID-19 posed setbacks, through transparent guidelines and robust frameworks, we can forge a powerful alliance between the private and public sectors to achieve genuine progress." Together, we must co-own data, actively involve communities in solution design, pledge dedicated resources, and harness the unique strengths of each sector. This is a shared responsibility that we cannot, and must not, ignore. #unga #unga78 #healthequity #MaternalHealth #PublicPrivateCollaboration #globalhealth #Transparency #Governance #impactinvesting #healthequity #UHC #healthforall #dataforgood #latinaleaders #womenchangemakers Baraka Impact Finance Movement Health Women in Global Health Bay Area Global Health Alliance #devex James Bair

Transforming Market Intelligence Into Actionable Insights ✨ Biotech, Dx, MedTech, Animal/Pet Expertise
Only 4% of global R&D funding goes towards women's health products and services This chronic underfunding not only stifles innovation, but holds back progress for half the population. Plus, women's health concerns are often not taken seriously or are quickly dismissed Diseases like endometriosis, affecting 1 in 10 women, remain severely underfunded and under-researched The siloed nature of women's healthcare is fragmented and frustrating, with different specialists handling different aspects of care What's missing? A personalized, holistic model that accounts for each woman's circumstances and provides adequate education and support. Too many women feel uninformed and unsupported when it comes to reproductive health, menopause, chronic conditions, etc. 💪🏻 I applaud and stand behind the trailblazers and leaders working to change this narrative through investments, advocacy, integrated care models, and a strong focus on the patient experience 𝙒𝙚 𝙢𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙯𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣'𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 - 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙖 𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚. #Healthcare #WomensHealth #HealthcareEquity

Communications professional and executive adviser sharing insights, tools and experiences to help women leaders communicate authentically and lead with impact.
Facing a challenging health condition with no cure is hard. Endometriosis affects 1 in 7 Australian women, girls and people assigned female at birth, and hospitalisations among women aged 20 to 24 with this disease have doubled in the past decade. Knowing these statistics and hearing the experiences of so many people battling this condition, much like mine, I wanted to do something to make their experiences better than my own. Over 18 months ago, I joined the Royal Hospital for Women's Community Partnership Advisory Committee in Sydney, co-chairing it for much of that time before stepping down following the committee's most recent meeting. Being a part of the committee allowed me to turn my experience with the disease into something meaningful: an opportunity to enhance access to information, care and patient outcomes by collaborating with other healthcare consumers, professionals and clinicians. These are four key factors that contributed to our successful collaboration between consumers and healthcare providers: 1. Establish a clear framework to guide member engagement, outlining expectations and scope. 2. Develop a well-defined action plan with a timeline, checking off goals when achieved. 3. Identify the desired outcomes for each task or discussion and work backward to achieve them. 4. Strategically engage consumer representatives on specific topics to leverage their expertise. A membership representing diverse lived experiences, knowledge, professions and perspectives enriched our discussions and allowed everyone to learn and grow together. Every step we took together is progress, and the ongoing work of the committee and the hospital gives me so much hope about how we care for people with endometriosis and make access to sexual reproductive healthcare equitable. If you're local and interested in getting involved, contact the committee via seslhd-rhwcapac@health.nsw.gov.au. #publichealth #healthequity #womenshealth

Women make up half the population and workforce, yet funding for their health care lags, and conditions that afflict them are often misunderstood and undertreated. While the lack of innovation in women’s health treatments is exacerbated by centuries-old laws, there's a clear path to economic advancement. More from Ashley Simses Campany via ImpactAlpha. https://lnkd.in/gc7GHbez To tackle the challenge, the Milken Institute and our partners are launching the Financing to Advance Innovation on Reproductive Women’s Health Network, or FAIR Women’s Health Network. The FAIR Network is a national women’s reproductive health collaborative accelerator model that matches funders with entrepreneurs. Its central hub is a digitally connected focal governing point, supported by physical regional hubs tailored to individual community needs. #womenshealth #reproductivehealth #healthequity #healthcare

Our Director, Charles Darwin University Professor of Indigenous Health, Dr Yvette Roe discusses the latest Close the Gap data with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Indigenous Affairs Team. Professor Roe agrees with Hon Linda Burney MP, acknowledging that "the same old approach of insisting that government knows best, has not worked" and suggests change requires politicians and bureaucracies to prioritize policies and programs that uplift communities, which starts with First Nations solution co-design. #firstnationspeople #healthcare #indigenoushealth https://lnkd.in/g3SyBuD5
Latest Closing the Gap data shows only five out of 19 targets are 'on track'. Will the next generation get a fair go?
