We have all experienced a great deal of #trauma over the last few years (not even including the pandemic) and we work individually and together to assure our #mentalwellness including: my husband, my 17 year old son, and my 15 year old daughter! 👨👩👦👦 🎯 Lifestance has always been transparent, upfront on costs, and accesible to providers! 📊 We actually utilized another digital platform, a competitor of Lifestance, recently, to explore options. *It's important to shop providers and programs to indentify what is most successful and beneficial to your wellness... The new digital paltofrm we picked was awesome too - our son loved it and saw great benefits. However, through a 15 week program we were NEVER connected with a psychiatric provider! An amazing counselor, yes, but not the Psychiatric provider we were told we'd be seeing. After our son had completed the program, in a post treatment survey I mentioned that we were never connected with a provider and although they apologized they admitted that they didn't have any psychiatric providers in their network!!! They did refer us out to a provider down the street, which is fine, the other, local provider is great, but we chose (and paid for) the (comprehensive) digital program, under the understanding that Psychiatric evaluation was apart of the program. My point in many ways is two-fold: What is advertised isn't always real - check in on what you're investing in. It’s Friday of National Public Health Week – let’s look at behavioral health services in North County. Despite a remarkable 596% increase in Marriage & Family Therapists employed since 2012, there's still a significant shortage of behavioral health workers. According to a 2022 report by San Diego Workforce Partnership, California's behavioral health workforce can only meet about a quarter of its need. SDNEDC investors TURN Behavioral Health Services, Palomar Health, Tri-City Medical Center, The Elizabeth Hospice and TrueCare are actively working to address this challenge. TURN Behavioral/Mental Health Systems (with 12 service centers in North County and a mission to reduce disparities in behavioral healthcare delivery) is leading the charge with innovative services focused on mental health, supportive housing, substance use disorders, and justice-involved individuals. Palomar Health and Tri-City Medical Center are expanding access to care by building new behavioral health hospitals, while The Elizabeth Hospice provides essential support and comfort to individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses. TrueCare provides access to mental health services at 5 North County community clinics spanning Oceanside, San Marcos, and Encinitas. ONE DAY LEFT TO REGISTER!🎙️ Session Spotlight: Do No Harm: Navigate Weight Stigma and Build an All body Practice Participants will learn about the myths of weight and health and the implicit and unconscious bias individuals have toward people of size. Information on size inclusiveness in practices, harmful interactions with clients and the framework of anti-oppression size advocacy. Learners will be provided ideas and tools to fight fat stigma and discrimination and personal weight bias. Weight stigma leads to health inequity, poor mental health and physical health outcomes. Weight stigma is a social justice issue with vulnerable and minority populations being even more adversely impacted. The Clinical Social Work Institute is one of NASW-NC's flagship conferences, offering 1.5-hour workshops for both advanced and beginning clinical Social Workers. This year, the NASW-NC Clinical Social Work Institute will be exploring many diverse topics, including a track on Social Work leadership and business development. Does your community have an "alternative response team"? A growing number of emergency centers are sending trained health care professionals in place of law enforcement to assist with lower-risk situations (think wellness checks, confused individuals, and mental health-related calls). Robert Blaine, senior executive and director of the Center for Leadership, Education, Advancement and Development at the National League of Cities says this shift in mindset is an all-around good thing. Alternative response teams "can divert what could be a criminal justice-type response into more of a health care, trauma-informed [one that directs] more people into the appropriate care they need," and gives cities "a diverse set of tools" in their emergency response toolkit.
