In one or more areas of care, 37 Kaiser Permanente hospitals are “high performing.” High performers are among the top 10% to 20% of all hospitals rated. While many health systems across the United States operate under financial strain(s), Kaiser Permanente continues to prove that by fully integrating health systems and services with the financing of healthcare together with common vision and goals, provides the best possible outcomes for both patients and the healthcare system.
Congratulations to our 37 hospitals named to U.S. News & World Report 2024-25 list of Best Hospitals! This honor recognizes our high-quality care we provide to our members and patients. https://k-p.li/4cKFigM

It is a sad testament to the state of healthcare in New Yorks State that there are more F rates facilities in New York than anywhere else, and New York does not boast one single A rated facility. I fear the situation will only worsen especially with recent reports that there are more rural hospitals at risk of closure in New York than any other state. NYS leadership needs to step up for the sake and safety of our citizens to provide the healthcare they deserve. https://lnkd.in/er-QZeNP https://lnkd.in/eZhQ7Cp3

If your mission-critical storage lacks integrated ransomware protection, what are you doing? And if it does have this protection but you’re not utilizing it or actively planning to implement it, brace yourself for a harsh reality. Imagine being a patient on the worst day of your life, only to find out the ambulance is taking you to a hospital with no access to your medical records, no diagnostics and staff relying solely on pen and paper. Ascension recently achieved a $1.8 billion turnaround in 12 months following a $3 billion loss in 2023, showing signs of recovery. However, it's challenging to bounce back from an estimated $1.6 billion unexpected loss due to a single ransomware event in one quarter (Forbes, 5/8/24). #ransomware #cybersecurity #breach #acquisition #healthcare #ascension #uab #EPIC #EMR #EHR
We are excited to announce that the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees approved an agreement for the UAB Health System Authority to assume ownership of Ascension St. Vincent’s Health System’s care sites in Alabama. This is an exciting opportunity to combine and optimize our collective strengths. Together we will sustain patients’ access to the highest quality care and give them access to a larger network at a time when other hospitals are closing. For more information, visit uabstv.org.

BMHC Board President, The Honorable Dr. Larry Wallace, Jr., Ph.D., co-authored a health-equity-focused article with Dr. Norman Chenven, MD., of Austin Regional Clinic, and David Stein, CEO of Babson Diagnostics, called "Three Guys Walk into a Conference And...", in the July 2024 Edition of the Austin Medical Times Magazine. What is unique about this collaborative piece is how it was born. Three guys, who come from very different places—a medical group, community care coordination, and a diagnostics company—met as they all sat on a panel at the 2023 Healthier Texas Summit hosted by It's Time Texas in collaboration with the University of Texas System. However, they all had one question in common and that is: "How do we remove barriers, make access to care easier, and reduce any fear and anxiety related to getting medical help?" They all acknowledged statistics show the health equity gap appears to be more acute in Texas than in many other states. According to their article, our state recently ranked poorly across 24 healthcare metric determinants spanning across four categories: access, outcomes, cost, and quality of care. They also agreed the challenge of improving care is big and complex, but the place to start is with preventative care. We encourage you to read the full article: Pages 9 AND 14 https://lnkd.in/evM8WumM Subscribe to our newsletter: https://lnkd.in/g_GFfMYu #BMHC #BlackMensHealth #HealthEquity #AustinMedicalTimes #PreventativeCare #HealthcareAccess #HealthcareBarriers #CommunityCare #HealthierTexas #HealthDisparities #AccessToCare #PublicHealth #HealthAwareness #HealthcareCollaboration #MedicalInnovation #TexasHealthcare #StayInformed #SubscribeNow #ReadTheArticle #HealthCareReform #HealthOutcomes #HealthcareQuality #ReducingBarriers #CommunityHealth

I’ve always thought that the “great consolidation” amongst health systems will lead to large regional Kaiser-esque models, where the payors, clinicians, and facilities are integrated. What’s really interesting about Jaewon Ryu’s statement below is he says Geisinger is the “first inaugural member.” That makes me think Risant Health isn’t done, it wasn’t just a singular acquisition, but will be the first of many other “member” organizations that will lead to a huge conglomerate across the nation. What do you think? Am I reading into this too much? Or will Risant rival HCA + UHC in its ability to gain market share through vertical integration of clinical and health plan assets?
Our founder, Abigail Geisinger, famously said to “make my hospital right; make it the best.” In 1915, that meant building the best hospital and having the best doctors and nurses. Today, making it the best also means having the best technology, digital tools, data and analytics, creating the best consumer experience, and so much more – all coming together to deliver the best care possible to improve the health of our communities. That is why Geisinger is proud to formally join Risant Health as its inaugural member, which will accelerate our vision to make better health easier for the communities we serve here in Pennsylvania and to be a part of a solution that we believe can transform health care in America. And we are excited to join in that path with Kaiser Permanente, a world-class organization and kindred spirit that has long been the gold standard in positively impacting the health of populations and communities. But none of this would be possible without the tremendous foundation that has been built here over so many years by so many people, to make Geisinger a leader in advancing the best health of communities. Big shout-out and thanks to our team members, our board of directors, and our communities that support us and entrust us with their health. It is truly an exciting day for us as we enter this bright future ahead.
