Biodiversity underpins all economic activities and human well-being. Yet biodiversity - and the ecosystem services it provides - continue to decline at an alarming rate. Halting and reversing biodiversity loss by 2030 will require urgent action to mobilise finance for biodiversity from all sources, public and private, domestic and international. Speaking ahead of COP16, Pollination Senior Advisor Helen Crowley will be joining the High-Level Plenary on 'Mobilising private finance for biodiversity' at the OECD - OCDE Forum on Green Finance & Investment on 16 October. This session will bring together leaders from the private sector to explore incentives, investment barriers and opportunities for scaling up private biodiversity finance. It will focus on biodiversity financing instruments, investment projects and financing channels, including blending of public and private finance. The monitoring framework for the #GBF (CBD Decision 15/5) aims to provide measures to track progress towards the framework's four goals and 2️⃣3️⃣ targets. The monitoring framework currently lacks traditional knowledge indicators for measuring the contributions and rights of Indigenous Peoples and local communities. As an effort to address this gap, UNEP-WCMC, the Forest Peoples Programme and the CBD Secretariat (UN Biodiversity) hosted an expert workshop on “Traditional Knowledge Indicators”, earlier in Spring, bringing together Indigenous experts, members of the CBD Secretariat and expert organisations working on traditional knowledge indicators, to review and integrate traditional knowledge indicators into the monitoring framework of the Global Biodiversity Framework #GBF The workshop led to the development of a set of recommendations for their integration in the monitoring framework for the GBF.🌎🌳🌻 Learn more about the workshop here: https://lnkd.in/dzgTfiTR

This publication marks a significant milestone in the BCA's ongoing efforts to foster integrity within biodiversity markets. The collaboration between the University of Nottingham and the BCA, supported by the Natural Environment Research Council, is driving progress in this vital area.
