What is your next event? I guess the FAQ for me regarding running. For me it's NUBU Backyard Ultra in Nummela, Finland on October 12th. 🥳️ For me it's the first backyard-format event, and I had no clue how to train for that. Even internet didn't give me good enough answers. So the best thing to do was to go to the well-organized training event two week ago, when I completed 7 round of the 6,7km track. (This is also my minimum aim for the event itself.) It was a good thing to do, because you got some great advice for the event itself and was able to find optimal pace. 🧐 After the event I decided to do the remaining training like any ultra, which means back-to-back long runs the next weekends. Last weekend 2x24km and this weekend 15km+35km, and from now own it will be tapering until the event in October. 😊 Runners - what is your next event? #running #trailrunning #juoksu #polkujuoksu

This Sunday, I finally achieved a long-time goal: running a sub-3 hour marathon, crossing the finish line at 2:57:07 in the Berlin Marathon! 🏃♂️ Improving personal best by over 7 minutes. This was my 8th time running in Berlin and my 16th marathon overall, with my journey starting in 2013 in Hamburg. But what made this year special was a realization I had last October: every time I crossed the finish line in previous marathons, I still had energy left and could do more. Decision was done— 2024 would be the year to break the sub-3 barrier. It became one of my top 3 goals for the year, and I kept laser focus on it. Preparation was key: in the 7 months leading up to race day, I ran 139 times, increasing number of runs by 85% compared to last year, ending with 1,381 km before the race day — a 51% increase. Seeing those numbers only a day before the race gave me inner satisfaction; keeping my focus was paying off to achieve this long desired goal. Of course, achieving this goal required setting boundaries, saying "no" to many things — both personally and professionally. Some no´s were easier to communicate, some no´s were tougher. Running journey has become a state of flow for me, mastering my physical and mental health, keeping my energy and motivation high. And on this journey, I was able to get to known great people and collegues, who supported me during all this years; with a special big THANK YOU for being there for me Philippe VANDAMME, all those running years 🏃♂️ So, what's next? 🌍 Boston, New York, Tokyo, and Sydney marathons are on my radar for next years!
