Crescent Cleaning was a proud attendee at Bisnow's Future of the Suburbs event at Bell Works Chicagoland in Hoffman Estates. Cook County Board President, Tony Preckwinkle introduced the day, driving home the importance of creating a competitive global advantage for the region. She explained how partnerships among the counties create a vibrant economic ecosystem that empowers entrepreneurs, creates a diverse work force, encourages technology initiatives, and drives innovation. Three star-studded panels spoke on: · Creating a Competitive Advantage · Future-proofing Suburban Development · The Future of Suburban Retail and Entertainment Primary takeaways: Municipalities should encourage the easing of zoning restrictions to allow for more work-live-play environments. These mixed-use environments enable an urban feel in suburban settings. Attracting and retaining top talent continues to be a challenge for most organizations. A friendly debate regarding the future of the work environment drove the conversation. While the pandemic changed the world overnight, our technology driven work environment was already in place prior to Covid. The shrinking workforce has created an employee driven market and solid points were made on both sides regarding the importance of working in the office along with the benefits of working from home. “Metroburb” facilities will become more visible in the suburban real estate landscape. Mixed-use facilities and amenities will drive adaptive reuse and redeployment of existing infrastructure. A holistic vision focused on smells, sights, sounds, music, art, public transportation, and an opportunity to build relationships will make these locations desirable for the users. Chicagoland is a headline target. The focus needs to return to our natural resources, economic ecosystem, diverse workforce, building inventory, strong schools, and diverse work force. We are all responsible for changing and improving the narrative. ESG outcomes will become more pronounced and will drive the future of business. This includes alternative power sources, electric vehicles, charging stations, technological innovation, drone deliveries, remote access to building automation systems, and sustainable practices. Crescent Cleaning looks forward to attending the next event! #bisnow #crescentcleaning #crescentfamily #chicagocommercialrealestate Tom Frye, MBA

The Texas Capitol Complex is the recipient of Quiddity's 2023 Project of the Year! In a monumental effort to breathe new life into the heart of the Lone Star State, Texas undertook a visionary mission to revitalize the state capitol complex. Quiddity played a pivotal role in the Texas Capitol Complex Project, which serves as a symbol of transformation, reshaping the Capitol Complex into more than just a tribute to the Capitol itself but also a vibrant community hub. At the core of this initiative is the integrated pedestrian mall, designed not only for governmental functions but also as a versatile space for community engagement. Envisioned to host events such as picnics for schoolchildren and outdoor book festivals, this area is poised to become an enduring gathering place for Austin's residents. Moreover, the project's significance extends beyond aesthetics. Capitol Complex Phase 1, completed in 2022, effectively addressed the challenge of fragmented office spaces, fostering a more efficient and collaborative approach to the state's challenges. The Texas Capitol Complex Project embodies more than a physical transformation; it signifies innovation, community integration, and efficient urban planning. Recognized as the 2023 Project of the Year, it leaves a lasting legacy, showcasing the impact of visionary initiatives in shaping the essence of the Lone Star State! Here's to moving the conversation beyond the typical "hot topics." Really enjoyed this panel hosted by Doug Sitzes and the team at Haworth in their LA showroom earlier this week. The conversation moved well beyond the typical topics of RTO, how many days, how many sq ft, or what is company x doing? It really helped that each of the panelists work with multiple companies in different industries trying to answer the hard questions every single day. My biggest takeaway was that the city is a set of eco-systems. Especially in a place like Los Angeles. Usually when people ask, "what's happening in Los Angeles," they are actually talking about LA County which is made up of MANY cities. So what's happening in Culver City or Santa Monica can be a bit different than what's happening in Downtown. Each of these cities is interconnected and in order for office buildings to exist, and the services (restaurants) of those buildings to exist, they need support from the community that occupy those buildlings. A restaurant can't exist on a 2 day a week schedule. This makes providing those services more difficult for landlords. Distributed working presents all sorts of new challenges and how to support that ecosystem in a way that is sustainable is a big one. I've got more questions than answers coming out of this week but that's a good thing to me. #futureofwork #workplace #losangeles

At J S D A Inc's onset, we sought out tenant space in the epic Bradbury Building (Bladerunner) downtown Los Angeles. Given the speed of our ops, the remote parking was a challenge, but the environment was magnificent. Millenials believe in engagement. They believe in place. In fact, in this National Trust for Historic Preservation research almost all surveyed (97%) feel it’s important to preserve and conserve buildings, architecture, neighborhoods, and communities. This is an important understanding as orgs steer into new directions to become cause driven. Firms like CBRE (Glendale workplace) and Apple have noted a natural alignment with utilizing existing spaces worthy of restoration and new use, and becoming cause-driven. Being authentic, providing authentic experiences is very important to this group (61% believe in the cause), who in the past haven't had the opportunity to become involved in a preservation project. Engaging in historic downtowns, eating hand-made food, and experiencing music that reflects American history and culture merits a high rank. It's a return to the ideals of the arts and crafts movement, that spurred greats like Charles Rennie Macintosh in Scotland, Louis Sullivan, Frank Lloyd Wright and many others to follow. Revitalization, character, and a rich cultural context will shape workplaces to come. #transformation #realestate #commercialworkplace #worklife #restoration #preservation #adaptivereuse #highefficiency #culturalcontext #authentic #reasontomeet #prideofplace #strategicdesign #bestuse #highestuse #community #legacy #impact #JSDAInc https://buff.ly/4emXXjG

Shouting out team EG on these posts is a highlight of my week and I’m actually a bit sad to be taking two weeks off it as I head away for a break. Samantha McClary said she’ll bring you the best of the week for the next couple of Fridays, although fuck it, maybe I’ll just log in anyway. What else am I gonna do, not be on LinkedIn for a fortnight? Don’t make me laugh. Me: “Guys, you head out and enjoy the sun, I’m going to work on the LinkedIn Friday wrap.” The fam: “Er, OK… Do you want us to bring you anything back?” Me: “Jesus, have you not gone yet? I’m trying to concentrate on placing the newspaper emojis correctly and tagging all the right REITs. SOME OF US HAVE TO WORK.” Right, loads to get through this week. Big Friday shout outs to… 🗞 Evelina Grecenko and her banging scoop on a tie-up between Lateral and Ballymore as the pair close in on a new project 🗞 Dominic Plaskota’s exclusive report on the latest London office leasing stats from Savills 🗞 Shifali Gorka with a first look at the newest office-to-hotel redevelopments being weighed up by planners at the City of London Corporation 🗞 Jim Larkin and Shifali digging into the data to find out which landlords have the most to lose from Carpetright closures 🗞 Samantha McClary on the ex-MWB directors given the “cold shoulder” by the The Takeover Panel 🗞 Akanksha Soni on the latest masterplan to transform Lewisham (as a Lewisham lad myself, this is clearly the week’s Most Important News) 🗞 Julia Cahill on a long-awaited lift on construction starts 🗞 Me on the M&A lessons to be learnt from Rapleys managing director Justin Tuckwell and his team as the firm completes its fifth deal in just two years 🗞 Plus a great op-ed from Jace Tyrrell reflecting on what his travels across the Middle East, Australia, North America and Europe have shown him about international attitudes towards London and its investment opportunities Loads more at the link below. And the music Whitney O. picked for this week’s video is, in my opinion as someone known for having very excellent taste in music, the best yet. https://lnkd.in/eCpU_Rna
