The Rt Hon. the Lord Mayor Alastair King has wrapped up a productive visit to Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai — strengthening the UK-China relationship in financial services and investment. During his visit, the Lord Mayor met with Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po to exchange views on global financial developments and areas of mutual interest. He also held constructive discussions with Shenergy, the ICMA - International Capital Market Association and the UK-China Green Finance Taskforce, reflecting the ongoing dialogue between our financial sectors. The UK and China share deep connections in financial services, with collaboration across green finance, fintech innovation, and capital markets. This visit underscored the importance of maintaining open communication and fostering partnerships that benefit both sides. The Lord Mayor’s visit dovetailed with a speech by Foreign Secretary David Lammy spoke at a British Chambers of Commerce, emphasizing the need for the UK to strengthen economic engagement with key partners, including China, the United States, and the EU. We look forward to building on these conversations to further strengthen our financial and economic ties. UK in Hong Kong Sir Charles Bowman Sarah Robinson Jaymal Amin

The International Regulatory Strategy Group (IRSG), a partnership between TheCityUK and the City of London Corporation, has responded to the Financial Conduct Authority discussion paper on crypto regulation. Key points from the IRSG response: 🔹 Global competitiveness – The UK must ensure its regime is globally competitive and seek align with international frameworks to prevent market fragmentation, while avoiding overly-prescriptive requirements. 🔹 Balanced regulation – Rules should protect consumers while minimising disruption to existing operations and promoting innovation. 🔹 Smooth transition – Standardised admission documents and a transition period for existing cryptoassets will support market stability. 🔹 Market abuse prevention – Measures tailored to distinct crypto-assets forms of market abuses, like rug pulls, will enhance investor confidence. 🔹 Industry collaboration – The FCA should work with the industry to refine safe harbour provisions that support market functionality while fostering trust and stability. A proportionate and globally aligned approach will strengthen the UK’s position as a leader in crypto innovation. https://lnkd.in/eAnyWTem #CryptoRegulation #FCA

Today marks the launch of our new funding policy, Standing with Londoners, outlining City Bridge Foundation's powerful commitment to social justice and solidarity that will shape our work for the decade ahead. Our focus will be on changing the systems that keep people marginalised, while also addressing the urgent issues communities face today. We have identified four bold visions for a fairer London, which will shape and guide our future funding programmes: 🔹Climate and environmental justice 🔹Access to justice 🔹Racial justice 🔹Economic justice This is about more than just funding, we will Stand with Londoners, using our voice, assets, and networks to advocate for social justice across our priority areas. Collaboration is key; by working alongside civil society, charities, communities, funders, government, and businesses, we can drive lasting change together. The first of our new funding programmes launches in autumn 2025, and this is just the beginning. 🔗 Read the full policy here: https://lnkd.in/eXZacHKj
