Viewing Figures Jump For Edinburgh Event 📈 This month’s BetVictor Scottish Open achieved outstanding viewing figures on UK Eurosport, with the average audience for the event up 64% compared to 2022. The tournament in Edinburgh was won by Gary Wilson for the second year in a row as he beat Noppon Saengkham 9-5 in the final. The peak audience for the final was up 28% compared to last year. Fans also welcomed the chance to watch the event on DMAX, with the average audience across the event up 19% when compared with figures on QUEST from 2022. The overall cumulative audience across the event on UK Eurosport and DMAX jumped by 76% when compared to last year’s numbers on UK Eurosport and QUEST. Read more 👉 https://lnkd.in/ebgeAmhH

For the next 2 weeks we are going to be treated to athletic perfection as the Olympic Games in Paris kick off, but have you ever considered the financial implications of hosting a games? Revenue:- Broadcast rights Ticket sales Tourism income (perhaps beyond the actual event hosting) Costs:- Submitting a bid (this can be hundreds of millions) Infrastructure Security Hospitality Travel Whilst the numbers are hard to definitely know, what is certain is that the direct costs of hosting an Olympic Games well outstrip the direct revenues. Add to that initial cost estimates have been overrun for the last 36 years (by 352% in Rio de Janeiro, by 128% in Tokyo, and by 115% already in Paris). Broadcast revenue for Tokyo amassed $3.1bn. Even if Paris adds a few dollars onto that, its long way from making up its $8.7bn in costs. May the best competitors win.

Some impressive figures broadcast audience and IOC digital figures for #Paris2024 since the beginning of the Games! 📌 We are on track for more than half of the worldwide population to follow the Olympic Games Paris 2024. 📌 We expect the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony to be the most streamed and followed ever. 📌 France Televisions reports that their audience of the Opening Ceremony is the best in French television history (24.4m). 📌 92% of the French population have watched the Paris 2024 Games coverage so far. 📌 By Day 10, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) already had surpassed 140 million people in Europe on its platforms and channels for the Olympics. 📌 Sunday 4 August was a record streaming day on WBD platforms with 600 million minutes viewed (10 million hours). 📌 In the US, Paris 2024 total audience up 80% on Tokyo 2020 (averaged 33m viewers across NBCU platforms throughout the first 10 days). 📌 Led by Peacock, NBCU’s streaming platform, NBCU has already registered more than 17 billion streaming minutes - topping all prior Summer and Winter Games combined. 📌 As of Sunday 4 August, 102.2 million viewers in Japan have watched the Olympics which is over 87% of potential viewers – which is comparable to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
