We were honored to be a part of the panel discussion at the quarterly ShareBuilt breakfast! The conversation ranged from why Architects, Designers, and Contractors might be involved in non-profit work to how non-profit organizations can better set themselves up for success in new capital projects. It was a poignant reminder that projects can serve not only the end-use, but also the development, design, and construction teams as we work towards a solution that positively impacts the charitable organizations that directly benefit the community and all of the people that their mission serves. Comma Designworks is committed to being a partner with non-profit organizations to further their respective causes. Thank you to ShareBuilt & their sponsors, FireSeeds for being the host sponsor, Bill Reid & The Journey Home, and John Arndt at DWC Construction Co., Inc. for their participation in the panel discussion. Can’t wait to continue the discourse at the next breakfast!

Experienced leader in Contech, conversation facilitator, and NIBS BIM Stakeholder Taskforce member. Former board member National Building Museum, DICE, and ABC I&D Committee member.
It all adds up. Whether that’s doing a massive project one phase at a time, building a company one job at a time, or getting healthier one choice at a time, eventually it all adds up. Same thing goes in the opposite direction. Like, needing to have that hard conversation but putting it off, wanting to slow down but still saying yes to everything, or wanting to ask for help but pushing through it alone, again. It all adds up. Construction is facing a labor shortage and growing mental health crisis. The two aren’t mutually exclusive. We need 501,000 more workers to fill jobs and meet capacity according to the Associated Builders and Contractors. At the same time, construction workers are four times more likely to end their own lives than people in the general population. This is unacceptable. Let’s be clear, there’s a lot we can’t control in this equation but what we can control, adds up. Educate yourself on learning the signs that someone is struggling, check in twice when you ask someone how they’re doing, and know where to direct someone when they’re brave enough to admit they need help. This is how we show up for each other, this is how we take action as individuals. This is how it all adds up! To create momentum, now through the end of the year Procore Technologies has committed to triple your donation to help raise funds for the mental health charities tackling this crisis in construction. Together, let’s make sure it all adds up for good! Learn more in the shared post from Get Construction Talking below. Senior Growth & Advancement Executive | Oxford University Development | Strategically cultivating betterment through meaningful partnerships
Capital projects are visions waiting to take shape. Before a single brick is laid, fundraisers and all internal stakeholders become architects of the donors' imagination... ... We're painting vivid scenes of bustling corridors and buzzing rooms that DON'T yet exist... We have to smell the paint, feel the energy, and see the lives changed by the presence of these structures! All to inspire our prospective donors to invest in a vision. Leveraging creativity and strategic thinking to transform empty lots into vibrant communities, brick by brick and donation... by... donation. ***And, it's not just in the $$££ raised, but in the alignment of values and the enthusiasm of our donors, where the true virtue sits.*** And when the donors can smell the paint too.... That's when the journey begins!

One day what we call sustainability will just be called "business" | Author: Managing Sustainability: First Steps to First Class
I am reminded of the saying 'waste is a verb, not a noun.' The environmental and social benefits of this are immeasurable - but they are quantifiable. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle - also requires 'Rethinking' - how can this be used? By whom? Can it be useful in it's current form? Modified? Or recycled into new products. Landfill should be the last resort. #circularity #waste Installnet
WMAR-TV in Baltimore featured our decommission project for MOI, with a great message: Don’t dump, donate. MOI is remodeling its roughly 13,000 square foot showroom and wanted to be sure all the wonderful furniture stayed out of landfill. Some of it went to employees, some of it was sold, and multiple truck loads of desks, chairs, tables, sofas, cabinets and more were donated to eight different nonprofits and community groups. Keeping furniture in circulation helps the environment and the community, allowing everyone to thrive. Together, we’re getting zero done. #circularity MillerKnoll Bridges Baltimore Black Women Build - Baltimore Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland Anne Arundel County Public Schools https://lnkd.in/eqAA6VBT

📣Calling all non-profit warriors! Perhaps you're wondering how to bring your fund-raising campaigns to life? Let this inspiring story from West Virginia guide you! Buffalo Creek Railroad took forward a noble mission to save a historic Alco locomotive. They utilized a #GoFundMe campaign for raising funds not only for repair, but for the long-term preservation of this historical gem. 💎 The key lesson here? Emphasize the WHY. Make your backers see your cause isn't just about numbers or statistics. It's about preserving stories, nurturing a connection to our past, and aid in envisioning our future.✨ Your non-profit might face similar challenges. It might feel like you're chipping away at a mountainside with a pebble. But remember, even pebbles can start an avalanche. 🏔️ And when you lead with passion, people follow. 💖 Wonder on how to best market your non-profit? Storytelling is your magic wand! Your donors are not just funding an effort - they’re becoming part of a unique narrative. Remember, Your work is not just #NonprofitBusiness, it’s #HopeInAction. So keep writing your story, we are here cheering for you! 🎉 #GiveHopeDaily #MarketingSolutions #NonProfitLeadership Comment below your thoughts.

ENGINEERS - we are in a FINANCIAL CRISIS putting our support for you at risk 🆘 ❌ Since the IET stopped collecting donations for us with membership renewals in September 2023, we have lost 35,000 donations which help fund our life-changing support. 👥 This means around 992 grants for struggling engineering families will be out of our budget – grants that help them pay their rent or mortgage, put food on the table, access mental health support, and get urgent medical care. 🤝 In 2022-23, donations from people like you helped us support more engineering families through life's challenges than ever before. That's why we’re asking you to support us through our own. 🙏 We're looking for 14,160 people in our community to donate just £25 a year to help us continue providing our life-changing support. If you can, please make a donation today: https://lnkd.in/evZxnqfn Listen to our Trustee and Honorary Treasurer Gareth Price’s statement ⬇ SHARE this post to help us spread the word ♻ Alan Watts / Alison Lanchester / Andy Rogers CEng FIET / Dolores Byrne / Joe Dunn / John Gleeson / Virginia Hodge / Wolf Byttner #Engineering #Engineers #Donate #Fundraising #Charity #IET #FinancialCrisis #Funding
